Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 2nd May 2025
Singing and Dancing!
Cathedral Choir Auditions
Dr Krippner, Director of Music at the Cathedral, came into school on Wednesday for a worship focussed on choir singing. All the KS2 children had the opportunity to learn more the Cathedral's choir and to sing together. They practised scales which helped put them all at ease before being asked if they would like to audition for the choir. We are proud of all the children who gave the audition a go as it takes courage to stand up and sing in front of a hall full of people. The audience were also fantastic, applauding and encouraging everyone's singing. Well done to the successful children, and thank you to Dr Krippner for coming in to school.
Stars of the Week
Congratulations to this week's stars:
Nursery - Ezra for his detailed independent drawing of the Gruffalo story.
Reception - Clara for always having a positive attitude to learning, but especially this week, working hard to produce a fantastic piece of writing about Monkey Puzzle.
Year 1 - Lexi for her amazing alien word decoding skills! She has put so much effort into her phonics.
Year 2 - Ruby for her fantastic attitude to learning in English. Ruby has such a talent for writing in a detailed and entertaining way. She always challenges herself to include a variety of techniques and punctuation at school and at home too!

Year 4 - Elsie for always giving your best effort, contributing to class discussions and being a wonderful role model to others.
Year 5 - Poppy for great contributions in class and always trying her hardest.
Year 6 - Joshua for enthusiasm and determination during maths. He's been a great role model to his peers.
Reading Monsters
Well done to our latest group of Reading Monsters who've worked hard to read a wide variety of books to meet the challenges and earn their brag tags!
Year 4: George E and William E
Natasza in Year 3 has reached the next level of the challenge and is now a 'Reading Star'. She wrote a blurb for her recommended read, and also invented a new character and compiled a comic strip with speech bubbles. Well done on being our first new Reading Star Natasza!
Friends of the School
Thank you to all parents and carers who gave their time on Friday to ensure the disco was a great success! The children enjoyed refreshments and glitter tattoos in addition to dancing to favourite disco tracks old and new!
