Hello DeMello Families!
We had a wonderful start to the new school year! Welcoming our new kindergarteners and first graders was the absolute highlight of our opening week and will be remembered by all for years to come! Our Kindergarten Open House on Monday was so well attended and filled with smiling parents and happy children. We look forward to working with our newest students and watching them grown and learn. I've included some pictures of our youngest students below. Enjoy!
As we move into September next week, we jump into more teaching and learning. Our third grade teachers will be launching Fundations, a very effective (and fun!) phonics program that has shown to be incredibly effective in our first and second grades. Third grade parents--ask your students about Fundations lessons. In a short time, they will absolutely dazzle you with their in-depth knowledge of spelling rules and patterns. While we are on the subject of literacy, this fall a classroom at each grade level will be piloting two new literacy programs with the goal of selecting one by mid-year. Our teachers are excited to play such an integral part in this process and we are all eagerly anticipating a new program for our students. Stay tuned for more information in the weeks and months to come.
That is all I have for now! Again, the past two days have been joy-filled and very exciting. On behalf of the entire DeMello staff, I wish you a very relaxing and enjoyable Labor Day weekend. We look forward to seeing your students' smiling faces on Tuesday🙂
All the Best-
Mrs. Correia

If you would like to allow your 4th or 5th grader to ride their bicycles home, please complete the attached permission slip and return it to the DeMello office. Please note that students will not be allowed to ride their bikes home without a helmet. They must also lock their bikes in the bike rack at the front of the building. Please contact the office with any questions! Thank you.
