April 2025
A note from Daniel Burt, NAKHE President
Dear NAKHE Members,
As we move through 2025, we find ourselves at a critical moment in higher education. Across the country, institutions are grappling with declining enrollment, shifting student demographics, retention challenges, and evolving policy landscapes. These realities bring uncertainty, requiring us to rethink how we educate, engage, and lead within our academic communities.
At NAKHE, we recognize these challenges, and more importantly, we reaffirm our commitment to being the place "Where Scholars Come to Lead." This is not just a slogan—it is our mission. It is our promise to each of you that no matter the headwinds facing higher education, we will continue to foster innovation, leadership, and professional development for faculty, administrators, and scholars alike.
In the coming months, NAKHE will provide resources, networking opportunities, and forward-thinking discussions to equip you with the tools needed to navigate these complex times. We will focus on leadership in the face of change, strategies for faculty and student engagement, and policy implications that shape the future of our institutions. Through our conferences, mentorship programs, and collaborative initiatives, we will stand together, ensuring that kinesiology and higher education remain strong, adaptable, and prepared for what lies ahead. Please take advantage of these resources and opportunities to grow.
Now, more than ever, our collective knowledge, resilience, and commitment to education matter. Let’s face these challenges head-on, embrace innovation, and lead with purpose. We look forward to working alongside each of you as we shape a future that remains steadfast in its pursuit of student and faculty potential.
Thank you for your dedication to our field, to your students, and to the mission of NAKHE. Together, we will continue to lead.
In partnership and purpose,
Daniel J. Burt
President, NAKHE
