Hello Sunset Lake Families,

We are so happy to be back together again!

The start of our school year has started off GREAT and we are so happy to see lots of smiling faces and hear the sounds of happy laughter.

The first two weeks we have spent time teaching our school expectations and reviewing leader behaviors in every area of our school. We had several assemblies together learning and celebrating with one another.

Our Sunset Lake mission : At Sunset Lake we are Lifelong Learners and Lifelong Leaders. We are committed to live our mission each day by bringing a positive attitude to learning new things and always trying to model leader behaviors.

We are in our third year of implementing Leader in Me, the school wide operating system based on 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and are excited about what we are hearing and seeing with our students. This year we are excited to share that we are bringing 7 Habits for Families to Sunset Lake. Ten families will be trained in the Habits and then we will continue to grow that number for our families each year.

If you have not already done so, please be sure to update your family information into our new Student Management System-- Skyward. See below for more information.

Hello Families,

We thank you for following our drop-off and pick up procedures. This helps us keep all of our students safe.

For pick up- please remember that school lets out at 3:35 and often the best time to join the pick up line is 3:40 when our students are coming out and traffic is flowing.

Drop-Off:

Our drop off window will begin at 8:35

Cars are to enter at our north entrance off of Boulevard

Cars are to enter at the north entrance and follow along the outer edge of the lot

Cars stop at the designated Student Drop Off Zone shown on the map (These are NOT parking spaces--rather designated zones for cars to stop and allow their child to exit curb-side)

Students are to ALWAYS exit curb-side

We ask everyone to take advantage of the drop off system

If you need to park, please utilize the parking spaces in our parking lot.

Please be sure to escort your child and use the designated walkway located at the drop off zone.

REMINDER: There is no parking in front of our building, or on adjacent roads.

Pick-Up:

School ends at 3:35

Traffic flow is as follows:

Cars travel west on Prairie St. and turn right onto 4th St.

Cars on 4th St head to the Little League Fields and take Wellhouse Dr.

Follow Wellhouse Dr. around to N. Boulevard and take a right on N. Boulevard (Village Police will be available to assist at this point)

Cars enter Sunset Lake parking lot’s north entrance and follow along the outer edge of the lot

Cars are to stop at the designated Student Drop Off Zone

REMAIN in your cars and your child will be released to you

We ask families picking up their child(ren) use the provided Car Tags

Car tags hang from your rearview mirror with your child’s last name written (LARGE) and facing out the window

A staff member will radio for your child and they will be dismissed directly to your cars

Cars exit through the south lot and will take a right onto N. Boulevard

Sunset Lake will continue to work on improving our system with office referrals. We have continued our subscription with SWIS-School Wide Information System, that is our data warehouse for us to track and review our student incidents during each school day. Our Student Code of Conduct can be found on our website. If you would like a hard copy of our Student Code of Conduct, please contact our office at 321-1550. Yes, your child’s school collects box tops! In fact, the classroom with the most at the end of the year will receive a special prize. You can check your child’s classroom progress on the front PTSO board.

FAMILY FARE RECEIPTS:

We collect your receipts! For every $150,000 in receipts we collect, Sunset Lake will earn $1,000 from SpartanNash! Look for the bright red collection box with a Bulldog by the gym doors!
