Dear SOTA @ CGHS Families,
Good afternoon!
Special thanks to the Voice Department for putting on a FANTASTIC Talent Show last Friday night! We're so proud of the production team, the performers, and the audience!
The SOTA Application for the 25/26 school year is live. If you have family and friends in the 8th grade, please encourage them to apply! Audition requirements and application are on our WEBSITE.
We are excited to announce that we are having a prospective student night on Nov. 4, 6:30-8. Invite your interested friends and family!
Remember that Friday, Sept. 20, is a Digital Learning Day for all students.
We want to give a HUGE thank you to the SOTA Mentors for throwing a lovely new student Meet & Greet this Tuesday!

Community Volunteer Opportunities
Lawrenceville Elementary School:
We have a volunteer opportunity for interested students. Lawrenceville Elementary School is looking for volunteers. They will be celebrating their Fall festival on October 18th from 5 - 8pm. BOOfest
- Date & Time: October 31, 2024 6pm – 9:00pm
- Event Description: Put on your best Halloween costume and get ready to explore the many attractions that await you. Visit our treat trail to fill your candy pail full of Halloween goodies and enjoy other spooky surprises to keep you on your toes all night.

YoungArts Week
National YoungArts Week is an intensive program for award winners with distinction to collaborate with peers across 10 disciplines, develop their craft with internationally recognized leaders in their fields and create lifelong connections.
Artists participate in classes and interdisciplinary workshops with acclaimed artists and are eligible for financial awards of up to $10,000, as well as nomination as U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts.
During the week-long intensive, audiences are invited to meet the most accomplished young artists in five nights of performances, writers’ readings and an exhibition, and through the publication of the Anthology + Catalogue.
Past YoungArts award winners include Daniel Arsham, Terence Blanchard, Camille A. Brown, Timothée Chalamet, Viola Davis, Amanda Gorman, Judith Hill, Jennifer Koh, Tarell Alvin McCraney, Andrew Rannells, Desmond Richardson and Hunter Schafer.

If you ordered BEFORE Summer orientation, we have your shirt and will deliver it at school this coming week.

Attendance Procedures
- Attendance is important! The bell for class to start is at 7:10AM - please be on time!
- The Attendance desk is right inside the SOTA entrance at the round desk with the red counter top.
- Excused absence forms can be found at the Attendance desk.
- If your student is returning from an illness or other excused absence, they can pick up a form from the desk when they return.
- Parents/guardians should sign the form and the student can return it the next day.
- Your student's absence will then be updated in our system.
- Forms can also be found on the CGHS website.
- No excuse form is necessary if your student brings in a doctor's note to the Attendance desk.
- When coming to check-out your student, ID must be shown to the Attendance clerk. Students will only be checked out to individuals on YOUR approved list.

Ordering a letter jacket? Scholastic Images is at our school many times throughout the school year to take orders. SOTA patches are available for purchase. You must email meagan@scholasticimages.com to order a SOTA patch. SOTA patches are $25/piece.
