PRINCIPAL POINTS, PRAISES & PRACTICES
Booker Bengals,
This week we want to send lots of love to our VETERANS who have graciously served our country to protect our freedom! We know that the sacrifices you and your families had to make, were not easy! We are extremely grateful for your commitment to our country and your service!
Antibullying Week
Parents, it's time for our annual Antibullying Week! We have a week full of fun activities to help promote inclusivity and kindness and prevent BULLYING IN OUR SCHOOLS and our COMMUNITIES! Please help us continue to foster healthy relationships and friendships with friends, family, teachers and staff. We must understand that we all need different types and levels of support to be academically and emotionally successful! So, let's strengthen our partnership by supporting one another, being kind and caring, helpful and positive and modeling character traits that promote trust, love, and peace for all! Our scholars and staff deserve to be in a nurturing, safe, and bully free environment every day! Together, we can do this! Let's make this world a better place for our bengals!
School Incident Reporting
Parents, I need to apologize about in incident that occurred on Friday, November 8th. Our parent communique did not go out. We had an incident where a student left campus and proceeded to the sidewalk. We immediately implemented our safety protocols and remedied the situation and escorted the student back into the building unharmed. Yet, we apologize for the delay in our messaging because I didn't realize that I had not activated our parent communique system, even after drafting the letter! Although it was an isolated event, I still would like to send my apologies for not catching this oversight sooner! However, I still felt the need to communicate the incident to you!
Support Measures:
Parents, you can help us protect our students while on campus, by reiterating to your child the importance of staying in their classrooms at all times or with their classes during transition times, reporting incidents that are unsafe or they feel is inappropriate. Reiterate the importance of getting permission to leave the classroom and having a hallway pass at all times. We will definitely continue to do the same!
We understand that all circumstances are different. Some students need lots of support and supervision during the day to help with daily life skills, while others may not. However, safety is our #1 priority and we want students to understand how imperative it is for them to remain in the building and proceed with their classes/classmates to the next activity or area. For those who chose to violate this policy, they will be assigned disciplinary actions, accordingly.
Parent Support and Reporting
Please speak with your child about his/her choices and remind them that we are here to keep every child safe and it's okay to be sad or angry, but never okay to walk out of the class or building. We are here to work through any concern or issue they may have at any time! Mrs. Foley and Ms. Jarreau are our school counselors and they are ready and willing to assist any child in any way! If you know your child and/or family has experienced a hardship or incident that may cause your child to experience undue stress, anxiety or fear, please let us know, asap! We will implement a support/safety plan for your child to help him/her cope and find solutions to tackle the concerns. Do not hesitate to reach out to us if your child needs additional assistance or if you need assistance, as well.
Thank you again for your continued support and understanding. We appreciate you!!!
Sincerely,
Keisha Womack
Principal

CAMPUS POLICIES & PROCEDURES
QUICK LINKS
Looking for ways to help! We would love to have you!
We are looking for volunteers and parents who are interested in supporting our scholars and staff this year. There are many ways to get involved. You can get involved behind the scenes, holding a PTO Board Office, volunteering at campus events, or so many other ways. Please complete both forms below:
BOOKER VOLUNTEER FORM 24-25 Spring ISD Volunteer Form.
It is important to do both forms. One is tailored just for us and specifies what you'd like to do as a volunteer and the other application is a district mandate for all Volunteers in Schools.
Booker Volunteer Interest Form
Spring ISD VIP Volunteer application:
We must get you approved by the district before serving on campus as a volunteer. Booker's volunteer interest form is just a way that we can try to track our interested parents and community members on the district's spreadsheet and get them in faster! However, it is not the actual volunteer request form! So, please visit the VIP Website and complete the application! Please call the front office and let the front office know that you have been approve as a VIP for our district! This system will allow us to track your status and get you registered for next year. We would like to start developing our Parent Engagement Team interest to hopefully roll out BIGGER AND BETTER THINGS FOR BOOKER!
