Math ββ
In math, students will continue to learn about the properties of multiplication and division with units of 2-5 and 10. They will then move into learning about place value and problem-solving with units of measure. Students explore measurement using kilograms, grams, liters, milliliters, and intervals of time in minutes. Students begin by learning to tell and write time to the nearest minute using analog and digital clocks.
Reading π
Students will continue their learning of Unit 2: Animal Classifications. Which focuses on using text features to better understand a non-fiction text. Text features include table of contents, heading, bold print, photos, captions, chart, map, glossary, and diagrams. Students will continue to learn about the five vertebrate groups: fish, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and birds.
Writing π
Unit 2: Animal Classification will focus on informational writing. Students will write about the classification of a specific vertebrate from the unit. Students will learn to introduce a topic and provide specific details about that topic while organizing their writing and grouping related information.
Science π
Students will investigate the phenomena of forces. This includes balanced and unbalanced forces and magnetic forces. Students will begin to understand that unbalanced forces will cause an object to move and balanced forces will keep it in one place. Students develop their understanding of the phenomenon of forces through modeling balanced and unbalanced forces with different objects. Through these investigations, students will begin to make predictions about patterns of motion.
