Senior Seminar Speakers
Mott Community College
by Jade Insley
Last week in the senior seminar we had four different guest speakers. On Monday we have David Clayton from Face Addiction Now, on Wednesday we had Justice Fowler from MIchigan State University, on Thursday- Halloween, we had Amber Hadley from Macomb Community College, and on Friday we had Gary Campioni from Mott Community College. In this speaker review, I am going to be talking about Gary Campioni.
When he first came into our classroom he started by talking to Ms.Czerwinski for a few minutes then he sat his things down in the front of the class. He Introduced himself and told us all about the free community college thing that Michigan has now, then he actually told us about Mott Community College.
One of the things I really liked was that Mott has been the only school so far that has actually talked about EdTech and about how they have classes and programs that pertain to past classes or programs you could’ve taken at EdTech. A second thing I really liked is how he mentioned they have a Paramedic/EMT program because that is a profession I am interested in pursuing. Also. a cool thing I would like to mention is that our guest speaker, Gary Campioni is one of the most well known lions fans, known as Macho Mane.
I am really glad our class had the opportunity to have a guest speaker like Gary come and talk to us. He seemed like he actually cared about what he talked to us about and wanted to set us up for success.
Michigan State University
by Lillian Wright
On Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, my classmate and I heard from Michigan State University about why we should be interested in attending their university. Justice Fowler was the admission counselor for our region for Michigan State University. Fowler went to Michigan State University where she moved from Chicago to drive deeper into her career.
Fowler describes Michigan State University majors according to their ratings. They have career sectors like Agriculture and Environment, Art, Communication and Entertainment, Business and Management, Education and Public Services, Health Sciences, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, and Social and Cultural Studies. Another fact about Michigan State University that Fowler told our Senior Seminar class is that there are 5 MSU neighborhoods and 9 residential dining halls on campus. Michigan State University also has 35 programs ranked top 25 nationally in the U.S. News & World Report. They also have the 3rd ranked residential colleges and nervous other living-learning communities. 300 and more study abroad programs allow students to pursue a career outside of America. Along with learning different languages and cultures to help give the students a better education. Michigan State University also has 23 Division 1 intercollegiate athletic sports, 27 club sports, and 27 intramural sports.
Overall, Fowler does a well and detailed job of why Michigan State University is a great University for students to attend. Not only for their education purposes, but also for the well-ranking professors and programs.
