Central High School-Hard at Work
Dear Warrior Families,
I hope you take a minute to click on the link that will be up shortly for a video of things happening in our classrooms on a random Tuesday before spring break. The district sent out a videographer to walk around classrooms and take some footage of our staff and students hard at work. I have watched this video several times and get so excited about the learning, the learners, the opportunities, and the variety that happens at Central High School each and every day. Sometimes it can be easy to get bogged down in negative headlines, harmful social media stories, or concerns about education, but I get the privilege of walking around our building and classrooms often, and this is what I see every day, and it keeps me going and wanting to do more to make our student experience the best it can possibly be. Thank you for sharing your talented students with us every day.
I also want to mention our Masonic Junior Students of the Year: Sage Siegrist and Trevor McCarty. Our staff nominated and voted for outstanding juniors who represent that Warrior Pride and work ethic that helps them succeed in and out of the classroom. These students will be honored on Wednesday night at the Masonic Temple in Grand Junction.
In addition, our outstanding Masonic Teacher of the Year is Blaine Escher. Blaine continues to be a spark in our building, inspiring students and staff alike with his energy, compassion, and constant positivity. Blaine will be honored on Wednesday night as well. Congratulations, and thank you for all that you do, Mr. Escher!!!
Spring sports are marching on, and our student athletes are battling weekly, representing tenacity and grit as they encounter opponents and try to bring home some victories. I am always proud of how hard these athletes and coaches work during this time of year.
Testing is also upon us, and it happens next week. We successfully administered our Digital Readiness Check with our mock exam this past week, and this helped all of us to troubleshoot any potential technical issues. Please remember that Freshmen and Juniors will test next Tuesday morning and need to bring charged chromebooks; sophomores and Juniors will test next Wednesday morning. Seniors do not have to report to CHS, but do need to attend CMU/CMU Tech courses as usual. Please call Dana or Tammy in the counseling office with testing questions, and look for emails and autodialer messages with important information as well.
I hope you all enjoy the spring weather and the 4 day week. Thank you for all that you do for our CHS learners and teachers.
Warm Regards,
Tracy Arledge
