Front Door Safety
Thank you for remaining between the double doors when dropping off and picking up your child during the school day. This is part of our School Safety Plan. If you need to come to the office, please let us know when you ring the doorbell.
The Houdini Way
We’ve been busy teaching The Houdini Way these first weeks of school. Can your child tell you the 3 BIG Houdini Expectations? (Answer: Be Safe, Be Helpful, Be Kind)
Let us know if your child can tell you those expectations (yes or no), and we will share a SWOOP with them in response!
Keep it at Home
Help us make sure your child’s valuables stay safe by keeping them at home! Below are some popular items that often make their way to school:

So, how can you help?
Donated items fitting the themes below (labeled for grade level) can be brought to the office OR feel free to email ptohoudini@gmail.com and a volunteer will pick up the items from your student's classroom!

A Message From Ms. Aliota - School Counselor
September 19th, 2024
Dear Houdini Families,
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. Appleton Area School District values input from our community – and we need to hear from your child or children! Students are important partners as we work to improve our communication, academic program and overall experience for everyone.
In order to learn more about student experiences at school, we will be asking for your child’s feedback in third through fifth grades, via an online Panorama survey they will be completing at school. The survey shouldn’t take more than 20-30 minutes to complete. It will be completed during your student’s regular LifeLong Skills class time during the week of October 28th.
We are asking that all of our third through fifth grade students participate in the surveys, as their feedback will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our district to their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. The responses to these surveys will be completely confidential. We are partnering with a third-party vendor to support us in administering these surveys.
The survey content will ask students to self-reflect on student competences and student supports and equity.
Please notify us if you would like your child to opt out of taking the surveys by emailing me at aliotatracy@aasd.k12.wi.us by October 18th . We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact me at (920) 852-5490 or aliotatracy@aasd.k12.wi.us.
Sincerely,
Tracy Aliota
