Fifth Grade Adventure Camp
October 4-6, 2023, Davis 5th grade students will be provided the opportunity to participate in a 2 ½ day overnight outdoor educational experience at Collin County Adventure Camp.
The financial commitment associated with this experience is $180.00 per student. Final payment for this experience is due September 22, 2023.
Cash, check, or credit card payments are accepted. A link to pay by credit card is provided below. All checks should be made payable to Davis Intermediate School. On the memo line of the check, please clearly write your child’s first and last name and Camp 5 2023.
Please complete the Letter of Intent and return it to school by Friday September 1, 2023. We need to get a head count to secure enough chaperones.
If you are interested in chaperoning this event, the cost per parent is also $120.00. All chaperones must have a criminal background check completed and will be expected to remain at the camp throughout the duration of the event.
On Tuesday, September 12, at 6:30 pm, an informational parent meeting will be held for the guardians of all students who will be attending camp. The meeting will be held in the Davis gym. Parents and guardians are not required to attend the meeting, but it is strongly encouraged.
Immediately following the general meeting, at 7:30 pm, a brief informational meeting will be held in the library for all Adventure Camp chaperones.
On the first day of camp, students will need to bring a sack lunch. If you would like to order a sack lunch from the cafeteria, please fill out and return the attached lunch order form. Lunch order forms will be sent home with all fifth-grade students on Thursday, August 24. Lunch order forms are due back to school by the end of the day on Monday, August 28.
Prior to attending camp, the students will have the opportunity to choose camp "buddies" to be paired with. Each student will choose one camp buddy. Once the pairs of students are identified, we will place those students in the same learning group/cabin. Outside of each student's camp buddy, we cannot guarantee that they will be in the same learning group as their other friends.
General information about the Collin County Adventure Camp can be obtained by accessing the following website: http://collincountyadventurecamp.org/.
There is also information about the program on the Davis Intermediate School website which can be accessed through www.wylieisd.net.

2022-2023 STAAR Scores
Texas Assessment released student scores from STAAR, EOC, and TELPAS in the Students and Families portal on their website. Although this is the same place that you have been able to access your student’s scores in the past, the log-in process has changed slightly, and you will need either their unique access ID or their TSDS number.
You should receive an email from Cambium Assessment with links to your student’s unique access code and the webpage where you can access your student’s scores. These will be sent to the email address we have on file in Skyward Family Access.
If you have not received the email or if you have any trouble accessing your student’s scores, please email Andie Doty, our Director of Assessment & Accountability at andie.doty@wylieisd.net.
Test scores will also be uploaded into Skyward Family Access.
Armed Security Guards
We have enjoyed having our new armed security guard on campus! Our security guard, Adam Whitsell, is specifically assigned to our campus – please say hi the next time you see him. We appreciate his hard work, including checking doors and being visible on campus, and he is doing a great job getting to know our school! If you have questions about security in Wylie ISD, please don’t hesitate to contact us or our Director of Safety & Security, Brian Kelly.
BARK for Schools Online Monitoring
BARK Parent Invitation Email
A few weeks back, families should have received an email about Wylie ISD switching to BARK for Schools for online monitoring. As part of our services with BARK, there is a free parent portal, which allows parents to receive after-hours alerts if BARK detects potentially time-sensitive issues. Families can also see what content is flagged and stay informed about their child’s online activity – a key piece to ensuring student safety!
On Monday morning, Aug. 21, families will receive an email invitation from BARK inviting them to activate their parent portal account. The subject line will state, “Confirm your contact info to get safety alerts [your student name]’s school.” The invitation will be sent from the schools@bark.us email address. If you have any questions or any trouble accessing the account, please feel free to reply to the email invitation – it will be sent directly to the BARK Support Team on the backend. If you do not receive an invitation on Monday, please check your spam folder or email communications@wylieisd.net.
