Fall in Love with Falcon Friday
Here is the first installment of Fall in Love with Falcon Friday, a special newsletter for anyone interested in more information on Falcon Middle School and Falcon High School.
Each week the newsletter will contain a Falcon Zone Staff testimonial, answers to questions submitted by parents and school highlights and information submitted by FMS and FHS staff members.
Our hope is that this weekly newsletter is informative and answers any questions you may have!

Falcon Zone Staff Testimonial
"My son has attended MRES and is now a 6th grader at FMS. He is an involved kiddo and loves to get connected. Relationships are the foundational building blocks that make the Falcon Zone such an amazing place to be and this has been evident each year (K-6). We chose to have Logan continue as a Firebird for so many reasons.
Working in the district has provided me with insight as to the core values of our zone and the positive shifts at the middle and high school. I have been able to hear testimonials of other teachers who have shared their personal childrens' successes going through our schools which provided me comfort. Having a network of others to talk to, to share the good, is so helpful. The idea of middle school can be so scary for families! We have loved that the 6th graders are in the annex at BRES. I think this is the biggest benefit of the overflow. It gives students the "middle school" feel while still providing some of that insulation they are used to. As parents, my husband and I have felt more confident knowing that 6th grade is a true transition year between elementary school and middle school.
As I mentioned, my son likes to be connected. He is thriving in the environment in middle school because he is willing to try new things and experiences from cross country to the middle school dance. He is looking forward to more team sports this semester (soccer and/or track). I have appreciated that the athletic department prioritizes grades and academics first.
We have found that your experience is what YOU make of it! Of course, there are things that can be improved upon, but on the whole, our son is having an incredible experience with kids he has known since kindergarten and is enjoying forging new relationships with students from other zone elementary schools. To see his network continue to grow has been a joy!"

Gifted Education at FMS & FHS
School District49 is one of the only districts in the area offering classes for gifted high school students!
Falcon High School is now offering the Honors Academy and Gifted Pathway Program for gifted students. This includes classes that are designed specifically for GT learners, driven by student passions, and provide opportunities to collaborate with like-minded peers. We also offer enrichment opportunities such as field trips, lunch check-ins, advocacy, and individual support.
Please view the links below for more info on both middle school and high school Gifted Education Programs (if the buttons don't work, open the newsletter in your browser).
