Family Medical Center of Michigan
Morenci Area Schools and Family Medical Center of Michigan have partnered together since
2017 to provide behavioral health services to students and families in our school district. This
partnership is provided by the Michigan Health Endowment Fund Grant intended to provide
school-based behavioral health services in rural communities.
Through this program, your child can receive assessments, testing, therapy, and psychiatry
services by our trained professionals during school hours. The goal of this program is to
improve access to behavioral health services in rural communities. Our licensed professional
work with individuals to address ADHD, depression, anxiety, bullying, behavioral concerns,
school-related stressors. Our therapists can help students learn appropriate communication
skills, relaxation techniques, conflict resolution, social skill building, understanding feelings and emotions, and learn better ways to cope with difficult situations.
Family Medical Center of Michigan hopes to be another outlet for you and your family; as well
as an additional resource to help you and your child work through difficult times.
If you are interested in getting your child scheduled with these services, please contact the FMC support coordinator at 517-438-0065.
Foster Grandparent Program
Please share this information about the Foster Grandparent Program with any grandparents that would love to work in our school. We currently have one Grandma working in our building through this program but would love a few more.
The Foster Grandparent Program provides meaningful volunteer placement, 20-30 hours per week, for eligible persons age 55 and over in Lenawee County, enabling them to render supportive person-to-person services to children, who have special or exceptional needs. The program offers an excellent opportunity for older persons to share their lifetime of experience with children in need of a supportive relationship. Academic degrees and occupational background are not considered when determining eligibility to be a Foster Grandparent, however income requirements must be met. The program looks for persons who enjoy being with children and have the ability to work with them on a personal level.
For their service, Foster Grandparents receive a $3.15 per hour tax-free stipend - one meal per day, reimbursement for transportation, and an annual physical. The main benefit is the satisfaction Foster Grandparents derive from helping their assigned children to develop.
This program has Foster Grandparents serving at the following locations:
- All Lenawee County Area Schools
- LISD Locations
- Lenawee Head Start Programs
The program is always interested in hearing from potential Foster Grandparents.

VISION STATEMENT
Nurturing and promoting growth of Respectful, Responsible, and Resilient leaders.
Mission Statement
Acknowledging that each child is an individual, Morenci Elementary School strives to provide a safe and inviting environment for all children to belong and grow into respectful, responsible, and resilient leaders in our community. Together with the support of our families, we seek to nurture the whole child, by providing exceptional academics grounded in character, creativity, and collaboration. To ensure that all children will be empowered to reach their full potential we will…
Create a safe and nurturing environment for growth by sharing our enthusiasm for learning with students and colleagues.
Inspire children to become self-directed learners who are able to celebrate diversity and perform both collaboratively and independently as students of MES and beyond.
Challenge learners to take risks and foster a life-long love of learning by exposing them to aligned and evidence-based academics, social emotional learning, and extracurricular activities.
Work together as a Bulldog staff, family, and community to nurture the whole child and develop long lasting relationships.
