Greetings!
Our last week before spring break! The garden is thriving right now. Flowers are blooming, brassicas are budding, life abounds. This week we pulled the last of our lettuces and made room for spring flowers and vegetables. The students fed the chickens some of the leafy greens and some went to primary teachers. We continued our scavenger hunt where students searched for plants using their senses. It was an adventurous week.
There will be one more parent workday after spring break. One of our parent welders, Mike, has been contracted to build some gabion benches for the native areas. We will be ordering rocks to fill the benches in late March/early April. I will have a date and a parent sign-up after spring break. We also will do some miscellaneous tasks to prep for the spring carnival.
We are always seeking coffee grounds, seeds, vases, and aluminum cans. If you have anything that might benefit our garden program, please contact me via email. The front table outside of the office is our designated drop-off location for garden essentials. james.obrien-moench@phxschools.org
