Easley Weekly Update

I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend.

Parent Volunteers

Are you interested in volunteering for Easley? Durham Public Schools requires volunteers (for field trips or other events) to register as a volunteer. The volunteer application is at this link: https://ec.samaritan.com/custom/1343/volunteer_home

All volunteers must first complete an application and undergo a brief background check. You can complete all of this online by registering as a volunteer. Please note that volunteer approvals are valid for one school year so chances are your volunteer application has expired. If you plan on attending an upcoming field trip, this application must be completed and approved beforehand.

We’ve had quite a few potential volunteers say that their application has been sitting in limbo and hasn't been approved. Upon further investigation, we found that the applications were not complete. Please make sure that every single section of the application has been completed. It seems that doing the application on a phone misses key parts of the application, whereas on a computer all the sections show up more clearly. (i.e. the volunteer status agreement, video training, training presentation, and agreement for the background check). After the background check has been approved, you’ll receive an email that says you’ve been approved as a volunteer. Please share that approval email with your child’s teacher.

Positivity Project

This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Forgiveness. Forgiveness means letting go of anger toward those who have done wrong and accepting that people make mistakes.

We have designed opportunities so that you can participate, no matter how much (or little) time you may have.
