Message From Principal Heard
Hello Trailblazers!
What an exciting way to end the school year. Many classes took field trips to the park, our 5th grade class promoted, our seniors returned for an emotional clap out, and third grade held their annual carnival. As the final bell rang, some students were seen cheering excitingly while others shed tears, sad to leave their friends and beloved teachers.
We hope that everyone has a chance to enjoy our beautiful San Diego summer weather, relax, and recharge. The office will remain open through the end of next week but will close for about a month to allow the school to reset for the new school year.
I want to take a moment to thank our many parent volunteers who helped us throughout the year. Your support for our school community is invaluable and we would not be the wonderful school that we are without you. If you haven't yet had a chance to volunteer, but are interested, please read below for information on how to volunteer at Stone Ranch.
See you in August!
Warmly,
Principal Heard

SCHOOL NEWS & UPDATES
Congratulations 5th Graders!
On Tuesday, June 10th our 5th grade students participated in their promotion ceremony. It was a beautiful event marked by special moments such as the clap out and student speeches and it was made even more special thanks to the contributions of a small group of parent volunteers. Their generosity with their time helped provide the incredible photo backdrops for your memorable pictures. Thank you for your time and attention to detail. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Take a look at the Poway Unified Instagram page (@powayunified) to see our Trailblazers highlighted in their very own post.
TBTV - Applications Available
Applications for TBTV went out earlier this month. Students from all 5th grade classes are eligible to apply and participate in this program. If your child is interested, please encourage them to complete their application.
Stone Ranch Receives Common Sense Media Designation
Thanks to the dedication of our amazing teachers, Stone Ranch has once again earned the designation of being a Common Sense Media School. This recognition acknowledges that at Stone Ranch we are dedicated to helping students think critically and use technology responsibly in order to learn, create, participate, and share.
Current TB Test Needed for Volunteers
If you are interested in serving as a volunteer at our school next year, please note we require a written TB clearance from a licensed health care provider. If you are due for your TB screening (once every four years), we are hoping this advance notification will give you ample time over the summer to complete this part of the process. We recommend getting this done before school starts to help speed up the volunteer clearance process when we return to school in August. Here is a link to the form.
All individuals interested in volunteering must be processed as a level 1 volunteer. Level 1 volunteers can work with students under the direction of a staff member. Level 1 volunteers must renew their application status each year. Some individuals may require Level 2 clearance. Level 2 volunteers may spend time alone with students (such as when chaperoning a field trip to the zoo). If you already have a Level 2 clearance, all you need to do is renew your Level 1 clearance by October 1st of the new school year. Please feel free to contact Julie or Diane in the office with questions about the volunteer clearance process.
