In the fall, all 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade students at Lakeside took an aptitude assessment. The aptitude assessments evaluated students' innate verbal, nonverbal, and quantitative performance on novel tasks. They are not the same as achievement scores and do not measure academic performance. CISD will send the aptitude assessment score reports to parents of learners in these grade levels by Friday, 12/20.

Aptitude test scores are one of the data points considered by Lakeside's Gifted and Talented Committee (GTC) when determining a learner's need to receive GT intervention services. By the end of January, a separate letter will be sent by CISD informing parents of the GTC's decision concerning their child's need for elementary gifted services.

Next week we will be celebrating Kindness Week! We wanted to make sure to focus on being kind to yourself this year, too, so see the ideas below for ways to be kind to both others and yourself each day! For even more ideas, check out this self-care Bingo, and keep finding small ways to show kindness and appreciation to those around you.

On Friday, January 17, Lakeside Elementary will host Thinkapalooza for all classes, PK-5th grade. What is Thinkapalooza? In short: Thinkapalooza is "Field Day for the brain." This school-wide event will be chock full of activities that stimulate critical and creative thinking skills. All learners will participate in open-ended challenges throughout the school day that encourage them to stretch their thinking in engaging ways. Your child does not want to miss this day of big brain fun!

Here are some items that Lakeside is collecting for Thinkapalooza activities:

• toilet tissue rolls

• yarn/fabric/ribbon scraps

• Small boxes (think Mac & Cheese box size or smaller)

Materials donations will be accepted through 1/8/25. Students may look for the collection box marked with a light bulb near the cafeteria to drop off a donation.
