OLCCP E-Blast

“He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
(Colossians 1:13,14)
Everyone has experienced a move from one address to another. After your move, you learn the location of the local bank, grocery store, post office, and other necessary services.
You also spend a good bit of time sending your new address to loved ones, friends, and others.
Even though we have an address and home here on earth, those who are disciples of Christ also have a place in God’s kingdom. The verses from Colossians stated above speak of our rescue from the kingdom of darkness and transfer to the kingdom of God’s only Son. Through Christ, our freedom has been purchased, and our sins forgiven.
Please pray for those still trapped in the kingdom of darkness: a space where others are mired in self-focused, crushing insecurity and preoccupied with those things that are merely temporary, fleeting, and vain.
When God gives us a mind and heart for his kingdom, light floods into the darkness and we desire the change in life only God can provide. We start investing our lives in a future that is eternal. We focus our resources (emotional, spiritual) on the needs of others. And we live in the holy confidence that we are celebrated and loved by God.
One day, even the smallest shadow that the kingdom of darkness casts over our lives will be no more because the kingdom of this world will be the kingdom of our Lord, who will reign forever and ever (Revelation 11:15).
Set your minds and hearts on letting friends and loved ones know where your final address lies.

October Field Trip
Please invite your family and friends to any upcoming events.
September – Thanks to everyone who participated in our 150-Year Founders’ Weekend, on September 13 - 15. On Friday night our church hosted DJ Code in concert for over 60 youth. On Saturday 45 people attended our first ever Trivia Night. And on Sunday, God blessed us with perfect weather for our outdoor worship service and potluck picnic at Orchard Lake Country Club. Over 170 attendees enjoyed great food, fellowship, and boat rides around historic Apple Island.
October – Our next trip will be on Friday, October 25th to Greenfield Village and/or The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. We will meet in our church parking lot at 9:30 am, determine who wants to visit which venue (your choice), assign drivers, and then journey to Dearborn. The cost will be dependent on the number of people who attend, because we have 12 free guest passes available. Please bring cash or a check to pay for your discounted admission (no more than $30 per person, but likely less). After your visit, each “car-group” will decide where to stop for lunch before returning to OLCC,P. For more information, please visit www.thehenryford.org.
If you want to attend, drive, and/or have guests passes you are willing to share, please email garyforhan@ameritech.net.
