Mayor Canose's Update
June 30, 2025
Polo Grounds Walking Path is Complete
The Borough is proud to announce that the walking path around the Polo Grounds has been completed. This project is part of the Council's Phase I plan for improving our recreational facilities. The next project will be the restrooms and pavilion. More pet clean up stations will be added to the area as well.
Affordable Housing Update
The Borough completed its plan for the Fourth Round requirement by the June 30th deadline. The plan designates areas that could be developed over the next ten years, but does not approve any specific projects. Any property owner or developer that wishes to develop these areas would be required to appear before the Planning Board and submit the usual documents and site plans. To see the presentation by the Borough's planner, watch the YouTube recording of the June 23rd Council Meeting.
The Borough's Round Three projects will be getting underway soon. You may have noticed the areas that have been fenced off recently: the Amerman parking lot, the empty lot across from Borough Hall on Mine Brook Road, and the apartment building at the end of Bernards Avenue. The Amerman project will have 12 units, the Mine Brook project will have 26 and the Bernards Avenue project will have 22 units. By using Borough owned property for these scattered sites, the Borough was able to avoid a builder's remedy, where a developer would need to build numerous market rate units in order to provide the required amount of affordable units.

Save the Flag!
The Historical Society of the Somerset Hills (THSSH) is reaching out to the community for help to restore an important museum artifact. They've launched a "Save the Flag" campaign to raise money to restore the oversized flag that was hanging on the front wall inside the Brick Academy Museum. This flag is a rare 38-star American flag. It recognizes Colorado as the 38th state to join the Union in 1876, the year that our country celebrated its first centennial. THSSH hopes to rehang this flag in the Brick Academy Museum for the AMERICA 250 celebration in 2026. If you'd like to help, you can find more information here.
