The school spelling bee is coming! In order to qualify, students will participate in classroom spelling bees in their English/language arts classes the week of Nov. 11. All students will be given 20 words to spell, and those who meet the qualifications will be invited to Belmont Ridge's school spelling bee in December.

This team will complete in the middle school flag football championship on Saturday, November 2 at Heritage High School, beginning at 8:15. This event is free!

The intramural sport for the second grading period is volleyball, which will begin on Tuesday, November 12. There is still time to register! The LCPS Intramural program is free to all Belmont Ridge students, and transportation is available on Tuesdays after school, when games are played. There are no physicals required for intramural sports. If you have questions about the LCPS Middle School Intramural program, please visit the website at

The school's Lost & Found will be cleared out after the end of the first grading period. Once items leave the school, they do not come back, so now is the time to check it! The L & F has locations in the cafeteria and each House office.

Hunger is an unwelcome guest this holiday season.

Belmont Ridge MS and Riverside HS both partner with local organization Food for Neighbors to help ease childhood hunger. You can help by sponsoring a $50 grocery gift card or by signing up for the Red Bag program. The next Red Bag collection is November 9!

THANK YOU to everyone who contributed winter coats to my coat drive! I will still gladly accept donations of winter coats in all men's, women's, kids', and babies' sizes. Parents of NJHS students, we are in need of several parent volunteers to help with our Veterans' Day observance on Monday morning, November 11. Our NJHS students will be putting American flags out along the drive, on our BEMS campus, and we need a couple parents to assist from 7:30 - 8:15am. The signup is currently on the NJHS Schoology page. Please ask your child to share the signup with you. Thank you!

The Welcome to LCPS EL Family Workshop is designed to provide a brief orientation to new EL families about the U.S. School System and LCPS. Sessions are held at the Historic Douglas High School in Leesburg from 6:30-8pm on the following Thursdays:
