Welcome DECEMBER!

Dear Atholton Families,

It is hard to believe it, but December arrives THIS WEEK! I hope you all had a very happy Thanksgiving and enjoyed the break. As we enter the midpoint of the second quarter, I hope you had an opportunity to meet with teachers to discuss your child’s progress thus far. Please know that you may request a conference or follow-up with a teacher with any questions you may have at any time — not just during designated conference times.

December is when we begin preparing for class registration for next year. I hope you had an opportunity to attend one of the sessions offered by the Applications and Research Laboratory (ARL). The next session will be in two weeks (December 13). Please be mindful of the very strict deadlines regarding admission to the programs at ARL. Please be sure to touch base with our Student Services department if you have any questions. Over the course of the next month, teachers will begin making recommendations for placement for next year and engaging in conversations with students. Again, please touch base with your child’s guidance counselor if you have any questions. Atholton will hold an informational meeting and electives fair for families on January 5, 2023, at 6:30 pm. Please mark your calendars.

Lastly, as this is the season of giving, please be on the lookout for a school-wide food drive to help those in need. We will be kicking this off starting December 1. More information will follow this week. I hope our entire community can come together to support those in need.
