Opening of Meeting
The board meeting was called to order by Brian Hunter followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Board Members present: Ken Gaspar, Brian Hunter, Jared Wormington, Annie Smith, Ashley Bailey, and Walter Branch.
Student Led Presentations
STUCO was recognized for achieving an extraordinary recognition as one of the nine middle schools in the sate to receive the prestigious Gold Honor Council Award. This is the highest accolade awarded by the Missouri State Association of Student Councils.
BOE Student Representative: Katie Geiss
Dr. Drake and the Board of Education expressed their gratitude to Katie for her dedication as the student representative this year. In recognition of her hard work, Katie was presented with a gift as a token of appreciation.

Previous Business
Update on Facilities/Grounds by Steve Garner, Director of Operations, included:
- Maintenance Project: The ceiling inside of the building will be finished with metal paneling. Plumbers will replace the toilets and sinks. Once the interior work is completed, the electrical system will be updated. CO signage needs to be completed; the front signage will be done soon.
- MHS/MMS Parking Lot: The parking lot will be coated and striped.
- Football Bleachers: The kickboards, which were painted purple and yellow, have been removed by maintenance and completed before graduation.
- Professional Development Committee: The committee met last month and introduced new leadership. Daphne Hensley will be the new chair. The committee will allocate time to train administrative assistants for financial teams. The PDC also assists in training and mentoring new teachers. Next year, we will have 19 new teachers who will need mentors, and all new teachers will participate in the New Cub Academy.
- Career Ladder: Funds have not been received yet but will be paid out in June

New Business
The Board discussed:
CTA Teacher Retention: PTO vs Sick Leave: Marty Lewis, president, Misty Calhoun, treasurer, submitted a proposal and met with several board members and the committee. Recommending going 8 sick days and 5 personal days, proposed all staff start 24-25 school year 5 personal/8 sick. If personal days are not used, days will roll over. The board unanimously approved 5 personal and 8 sick days for the 2024-2025 school year.
MSBA 2024A Update - AI: Discussed MSBA AI policy updates. No formal action taken.
Approve Bid for MIS & CO Roof Project: The board unanimously approved the project bid to remove and replace the brick veneer for $834,459 for the MIS and Central Office campuses. This includes new gutters, downspouts, and facia installed.
