This is free training in English/Spanish. CEUs will be given to each participant for attending each session. Attached is the information on the sessions for childcare providers. Participants are strongly encouraged to register for all three sessions, but each has its own registration. Each individual session will be offered on a Monday evening and a Saturday morning—the same information, and two date/time options.

Esta es una capacitación gratuita en inglés / español. Los CEU se entregarán a cada participante por asistir a cada sesión. Se adjunta la información sobre las sesiones para proveedores de cuidado infantil. Se recomienda encarecidamente a los participantes que se registren para las tres sesiones, pero cada uno tiene su propia inscripción. Cooler temperatures and cold & flu season are upon us! Take precautions to keep yourself and your family healthy.

• Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.

• Cover your cough & sneeze.

• Get plenty of sleep. Elementary aged children should get 9-12 hours of sleep per day.

• Stay hydrated! There are many health benefits to drinking water.

• Exercise regularly.

• Dress for the weather. Wear layers, hats & gloves.

• Get your flu shot.

• Keep your child home from school if they are sick. It is recommended students stay home until they have been fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication.

Please call the School Nurse with any questions.

¡Ya se acercan las temperaturas más frías y la temporada de resfriados y gripe! Tome precauciones para mantenerse sano y cuidar a su familia.

• Lávese las manos frecuentemente con agua y jabón.
• Cúbrase la boca al toser y estornudar.
• Duerma lo suficiente. Los niños de primaria deben dormir entre 9 y 12 horas al día.

• Showing up on time every day is critical to your child’s success and learning.

• Missing school can make it harder to gain reading and math skills.

• Chronic Absenteeism is the loss of instructional time whether the absence is excused or unexcused.

In the Omaha Public Schools...

• Every minute counts and is calculated into your child's attendance record.

• At the elementary level a day of absence = 405 minutes.

Remember....

• Attempt to plan doctor, dental, or other appointments outside of school hours.

• If you are unable to do so, please provide a doctor's note.

If your child is Chronically Absent or absent for more than 5 days (whether the absence is excused or unexcused) a Collaborative Attendance Plan may be developed to provide support and discuss any barriers to attendance that maybe occurring. This would include the parent/guardian, and the attendance team at Gomez.

After a student has accumulated TWENTY days of absences or its hourly equivalent, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THOSE ABSENCES ARE EXCUSED OR UNEXCUSED, the District shall render services to address barriers to the student's attendance.

Please Note: Although all students are receiving free lunch this year, we still need families to fill-out the lunch applications. The applications can provide students benefits (medicaid, ebt, scholarships, etc.). Additionally, the applications are tied to school funding.
