Superintendent's Update
June 7, 2024
FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT'S DESK
Hello Auburn Families and Staff,
It is hard to believe but the end of the school year is nearly upon us. I continue to be humbled and thankful to serve as your Superintendent and I am so very thankful for all of the families, students and staff who help to make the Auburn Public Schools a great place to learn and to grow. As we end the 23-24 school year, we are already preparing for the 24-25 school year. At the building level, there is a flurry of fun activities and field trips taking place along with lots of preparation for the coming school year.
We have two big administrative changes to share with you. First, Mrs. Stanick, the current principal of Pakachoag, has agreed to take on the role of Interim Business Manager for the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Stanick has worked diligently to obtain her licensure, she has collaborated regularly with the Business Office both during the day and in long evenings at the end of the day, to be ready to take on this critical role for the district. I have great confidence in Mrs. Stanick's abilities, great respect for her commitment to Auburn and to her support of our students and staff and I know she will be a terrific addition to our Central Office team.
In light of Mrs. Stanick's transition to Business Manager, we have hired Cheryl Carlson to serve as Interim Principal at Pakachoag. Ms. Carlson comes to us with experience both as an assistant principal and principal. Mrs. Carlson has extensive experience in special education and cultural proficiency. She is enthusiastic, energetic and thrilled to be joining our team. I hope you all join me in wishing them both well as they undertake their new roles.
I would also like to take a moment to recognize Greg Walton, Ali Deluca, and the team of teachers and support staff who worked to organize the School Day Games along with all of our student athletes. This event brings together students of all abilities to have fun, to compete and to make connections and truly represents the best of us...giving spirits, determination, comradery, and joy in the success of others. Nicely done to all!
As a former primary school principal, I would like to encourage you and your child(ren) to take some time for a good book this summer. Books are truly the gateway to the world, to relaxation, to adventure, to comfort and to growth. Model for your child the importance and value in reading because we know kids who read do well in school. And if your child is a reluctant reader, reading aloud is a great way to connect and have a shared experience. While I hope we have a sunny summer, rainy days are a great time to curl up with a good book.
I wish you all a safe and fun filled summer filled with positive vibes, good friends, close family and lots of activities that refresh your soul.
Thank you for your continued support of the Auburn Public Schools.
Best,
Beth
