Crimson Newsletter - Sept. 10, 2024
Sept. 10, 2024
From Principal Becker
First week of school is in the books!
"Proud" is a fitting word to capture my feelings and reaction to our first week of school. Our staff worked incredibly hard to prepare and welcome students to school, foster positive relationships, and engage students in learning. Our Link Leaders were amazing in welcoming in our incoming freshmen. Our seniors led by example and modeled for others how to navigate the school day at Maple Grove Senior High. Our sophomores and juniors, each with another year under their belt, carried themselves with confidence and more maturity (and how they have all grown!). And our school community came together for one of our best opening week school rallies ever. Crimson Pride is as strong as ever!
- Next up are our Learning Conferences today (see below for more information); families are invited to attend with your students (but not required) to follow their schedules and meet teachers.
- On Friday, September 13, we have our annual "Safety Day," in which we conduct a number of required emergency preparedness drills. We encourage students and staff to have a little fun and dress up in their most flashy safety gear to add a little spirit to the day.
- Before you know it, we'll be celebrating our Crimson Homecoming the week of September 23-27. Events will build to our Friday morning pepfest and Saturday evening dance! We'll have more information coming soon about purchasing dance tickets (via EduTrak).
Students have responded well to the expectations of no personal electronic devices during instructional time. From my own observations as I walk through classrooms to the feedback from teachers, we have seen a marked change of behavior and increased engagement in classes! We will maintain consistency of this expectation across our school.
There's so many great things happening at Maple Grove, and our work will always continue. Thanks to our families, our staff, and our amazing Crimson students for contributing the best of themselves to our Crimson Family.
A couple quick reminders:
- A great bargain for students planning on attending home regular season games throughout the year: Student activity passes are available on EduTrak are for $30. Buy now and save for the future!
- Please see our student/family handbook for information about anything and everything Maple Grove Senior High.

On we go!
Yours very respectfully,

Learning Conferences
Today, Tuesday, September 10, Maple Grove Senior High will be hosting our annual Learning Conference from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
A welcoming meeting will begin in the auditorium at 4:00 p.m., and then families will attend class sessions according to their student’s daily schedule. Bring your students along, if you wish! They can serve as your very own Crimson guides. Families can expect to experience the following:
- meeting teachers and Crimson staff members,
- learning about course standards, class expectations, assessments, and
- experiencing the school and classroom environments in which their student learns.
For best efficiency, come with a screenshot of your student's schedule for easiest access to correct room locations. We will have maps available and students/staff in the halls to help families navigate!
We hope to see you there!
