Painting Day with SWAP
School to Work Alliance hosted a free painting day November 6. SWAP provided canvases, paints and brushes. The students had an enjoyable day painting whatever they desired. The paintings will be sold at the upcoming Career Center Holiday Bazaar Dec. 14th at our SWAP table for $5.00 each and the money will be given to the artists. We will also be selling the art that the SWAP clients created back in August. Two SWAP clients will be recruited and paid an hourly wage to man the table. Our goal is to give them skills in marketing, customer service skills and money handling.
Early Childhood Profession
Students in the Early Childhood Profession classroom are busy working on “interactive math boards” which they will implement with the preschool children in November. The goal of these boards is to teach the preschool children Colorado math standards using a “hands on” approach. Students have learned that they also are using a “hands on” approach to improving their own math skills as they have had to use a bit of geometry, proportions, and basic math facts in order to complete their boards for presentation. Each student also had to write a lesson plan and design a blueprint for their board prior to presentation.
