COUNSELING WEEK!
Help us celebrate our counselors during Counselor Appreciation Week February 6-10.
We would like to encourage everyone, students and family members, to write a Thank You letter to our kindhearted counselors.
Turn them into Mrs. Paz in the counseling office. Please have letters in no later than Friday 2/10.
VACCINES CLINIC
GCPS has partnered with GNR Public Health to offer required vaccinations for students attending 7th and 11th grade. Through this partnership, students can receive Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis vaccine) and MCV4 (adolescent meningococcal vaccine). In addition to these required vaccinations, GNR will have limited supplies of flu vaccine and COVID-19 vaccines.
All students born on or after January 1, 2002, and are entering, advancing or transferring into 7th grade in Georgia need proof of an adolescent pertussis (whooping cough) booster vaccination (called “Tdap”) and an adolescent meningococcal vaccination (MCV4).
Effective July 1, 2021, children 16 years of age and older, who are entering the 11th grade (including new entrants), must have received one booster dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4), unless their initial dose was administered on or after their 16th birthday. This MCV4 booster is required in addition to the booster required for 7th grade. It is important to note that the vaccine is only required for students who are at least 16 years of age AND attending 11th grade.
Families will need to provide proof of insurance for Tdap, MCV4 and flu vaccines. Students 18 years of age and younger who do not have health insurance will be eligible for vaccines at no charge through our mobile clinics under the Vaccines for Children program. COVID-19 vaccinations are available regardless of insurance status.

eTips
Encourage your teen to put opinions in writing
Many teens are interested in solving problems and improving situations in the world around them. Whether the cause is the environment or money for a new school building, getting involved is a good opportunity for learning. When your teen shows enthusiasm for a cause, suggest writing a letter to the editor of a local newspaper. Your teen will get an outlet for self-expression and practice organizing thoughts in writing. https://tpitip.com/?32hS18608
