Summer Employment Opportunities
- Representatives from Six Flags Great Escape will be in the high school on March 9, 2023 from 10 am - 12 pm to meet with students who are interested in applying for a summer job at the Great Escape. Please see Mrs. Lyon in Student Services for a pass.
- Are you searching for a summer job? Are you at least 16 years old? Do you enjoy working with children? If you answered YES to any of those questions, then you should consider becoming a Camp Counselor this summer at Gavin Park! See the flyer below for more information.

5 Hour Pre-Licensing & Boating Safety Courses
SUNY Adirondack will be offering a virtual 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course on the following dates:
- March 20th from 5 to 10 pm (CRN: 20066)
- April 10th from 9 am to 2 pm (CRN: 20067)
- May 15th from 5 to 10 pm (CRN: 20068)
- June 12th from 5 to 10pm (CRN: 70001)
- July 10th from 5 to 10 pm (CRN: 70002)
- August 14th from 5 to 10 pm (CRN: 70003)
This five-hour pre-licensing course is required by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for all applicants who want to take a road test for a driver’s license. A MV-278 completion certificate needed for road test appointments will be issued at the conclusion of this class. Pre-registration is required and the cost of the course is $55.
Also offered through SUNY Adirondack is an About Boating Safely (ABS) course on April 1st from 8:30 am - 5 pm in person at the SUNY Adirondack campus in Queensbury. The cost of the ABS course is $35. Registration is required. More information about these programs and additional offerings can be found online.
Summer Enrichment Opportunities
- Boston University Summer Journalism Academy offers two options for a summer enrichment program (an on-campus residential program over three weeks and a learn-from-home program over two weeks). Applications for the on-campus session (June 26th to July 14th) are due on April 14th. Applications for the learn-at-home sessions starting June 19th, July 3rd, and July 17th are due on May 5th. - PREFACE Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is a summer program for talented students who have been historically under-represented in science, engineering, and the technological fields, and who express a strong interest in pursuing careers in these areas. This year’s program will take place in-person on the RPI campus in Troy from July 23rd to August 5th. More information, including the application, can be found here. Deadline: April 14, 2023

Internship Opportunity with the New York State Senate
The New York State Senate has announced their summer internship opportunity in their Production Services Department. This internship program runs for six week (July 6, 2023 - August 16, 2023) and runs Monday - Friday for twenty hours per week (sixteen hours are hands-on at the worksite and four hours are spent in professional development workshops). Interested in the U.S. Coast Guard Academy?
The USCGA will be hosting an information session in East Islip, NY this weekend! This session will be hosted at the East Islip Public Library and will include a comprehensive presentation for students who are interested in learning more about the unique opportunities available at the Coast Guard Academy and as a commissioned officer. Details for this informational session can be found below, as well as in the flyer:

Scholarships
- Adirondack Paralegal Scholarship: eligible applicants must be in good academic standing and submit an essay, along with the application, transcript, and two letters of recommendation. Application can be found here. Deadline: May 1, 2023
- 4s4Life Foundation Scholarship: eligible applicants must be college-bound high-school seniors currently attending high school in a WSWHE BOCES district and be attending college for the first time in the fall of 2023. The applicant must be pursuing a degree in the mental health field - examples include but are not limited to psychology, sociology, social work, and counseling. Application can be found here. Deadline: March 15, 2023
- Schuylerville Community Theater: eligible applicants must plan to pursue a degree in Music, Dance, Drama or Theater Arts. Application can be found here. Deadline: April 20, 2023
- Saratoga Builders Association Scholarship: eligible applicants must be a high school senior or college undergraduate in Saratoga County who is planning to pursue construction education at a 2 or 4-year accredited college or university or students who would like to purchase tools and/or equipment for employment/career or to start a business in the construction industry. - Fort Edward Historical Association Senior Student Art Show and Scholarship Competition: eligible participants must be a senior who resides in Warren, Washington, Saratoga, or Essex County and have been accepted into a College of Fine Arts Program. - Adirondack School Counselor Association Scholarship: eligible applicants must be planning to attend a 4-year college or university, planning to major in human services, sociology, psychology, or a related "helping" field; must also have demonstrated a record of serving others in a humanitarian way. Application can be found here. Deadline: April 21, 2023 (application materials must be received by deadline, not postmarked)
Gerard J. Buckenmeyer FASNY Volunteer Scholarship: eligible applicants must be a member in good standing with FASNY or have a parent/legal guardian who is a member and serve as a current Junior firefighter, Explorer Scout or RAM in a group affiliated with a volunteer department; a volunteer firefighter, or a volunteer with an EMS unit. Applications are available online. Deadline: March 15, 2023
Beth Chubb Roberts Memorial Scholarship: to honor the life and legacy of Beth Chubb Roberts, the Schuylerville Teachers’ Association has set up a memorial scholarship fund to give back to graduating Schuylerville students. The memorial scholarship is a broad scholarship that is committed to supporting all of the things Beth stood for. Applicants are asked to submit a one page reflection of their career at Schuylerville and state what their future aspirations are. Please find the scholarship application here. Deadline: May 15, 2023
NYSUT Retiree Council 10 Scholarship: eligible applicants must be pursuing a degree in education at either a two-year college transfer program or a four-year college. Application can be found here. Deadline: March 22, 2023
The Adirondack Runners (TAR) Scholarship: eligible applicant must be from designated school districts in Warren, Washington, Hamilton, Essex and Saratoga Counties or high school seniors who are TAR members-in-good-standing attending any high school; applicant must be planning to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year college. Application can be found here. Deadline: April 28, 2023
Ben Stanley Memorial Art Scholarship: eligible applicants must be graduating seniors at Schuylerville High School (no graduating students will be excluded from consideration on academic grounds) and submit three (3) pieces of work demonstrating diversity in each body of work, using three (3) different mediums, and submit a 250 word essay. Application information can be found here. Deadline: March 21, 2023
Tri County School Nutrition Directors Scholarship: eligible applicants must be planning to continue their education and pursuing a career in the field of food service/hospitality (ex: chef, cook, manager, restaurant, hospitality, foodservice, food science, nutrition/dietetics). Cameron Jace Quartier Memorial Scholarship: eligible applicants must be in good academic standing, be planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college, be pursuing a degree in any area of health care, and have a record of volunteerism within the community. Financial Aid Information
If you have yet to complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), SUNY will be hosting a webinar to assist families in completing their applications for financial aid on March 21st. This is a hands-on workshop, so families should be ready to complete the FAFSA during the program. Students may register here.
Honors College at HVCC
HVCC has announced the addition of an Honors College, which is a selective program that will engage students in a rigorous curriculum with an emphasis on academics, service, leadership and diversity. More information, including eligibility requirements, can be found here.
Junior Information
SAT/ACT Testing Information:
The SAT and the ACT will be offered on the following (Saturday) national testing dates. The cost of the SAT is $55. The ACT has a basic fee of $63.00, with an optional writing test (cost with writing is $88.00). If the cost of these tests presents a hardship, you may be eligible for a fee waiver. Please check with Mrs. Rust, Mrs. O'Brien or Ms. Bean.

On Thursday, March 16th, interested juniors will have the opportunity to attend the Spring College Fair at SUNY Adirondack. Permission slips were sent home over February break and must be returned to Student Services by Friday, March 3rd in order to attend this trip. (This field trip will be capped at 40 students.)
