A Message from Principal Wade
I can hardly believe that the 1st week of the 2024-25 school year is almost over. What an amazing and joyful week it has been. It was absolutely wonderful to see so many beautiful scholars emerge from buses and cars each morning ~ so many smiles and hugs and the sound of laughter.
There has been a lot of learning happening each day as educators teach and model rituals and routines. Our paraprofessionals have been teaching our CARES expectations for the cafeteria and playground and PBIS Passports are being stamped.
Our kindergarteners found clues all over the building as they went on a hunt for the Gingerbread Man. I can't wait for week 2!

All School Open House/Family Picnic - Sept. 11th
While many of you have been here to drop off or pick up your child(ren) - some of you may not have seen our new spaces and classrooms.
We are so very excited for you all to join us on Wednesday, September 11th from 4:30 - 6:30 PM for an All School Picnic. Hot dogs, chips and water will be provided.
You will be able to visit classrooms, drop off school supplies (if you haven't had an opportunity to do that yet), meet your child's teacher, talk to the school nurse, and more.
BIPOC Family Engagement Circles
The start of the school year can be one filled with big feelings - for you and your scholars! In addition, you might have questions and wonderings about how you’re feeling as a parent/caregiver of a new kindergartener or a 1st grader or 3rd grader or 6th grader. With each year, new wonderings emerge and new questions may be present.
Next Tuesday morning, September 10 you are warmly welcomed to a community circle space that brings together EDW parents/caregivers for a shared experience. We will gather in the Media Center beginning at 9:15 AM. Please take a few minutes to complete this short google form ~ the information is helpful for planning purposes.
September 10 BIPOC Family Engagement Circles Form
We will be joined by a community circle keeper as we gather to learn each others' stories and hopes for the school year. We are looking forward to strengthening partnerships as we celebrate the brilliance and gifts of your children this school year.
No experience or preparation is necessary, we only ask that you bring with you a listening ear and your own perspective to the space.
Arrival & Dismissal
Hello EDW Families!
It is so important to us that all of our scholars are arriving and leaving from school in a safe way - so I want to make sure that all families and scholars have the same information.
Arrival:
- Scholars in CID ~ drop off at 9:15 AM at Door 13.
- All other scholars being dropped off are able to enter the building at 9:25 AM. There is no supervision prior to that time.
- Grades K-1 enter via Door 12.
- Grades 2-6 enter via Door 1 (main entrance).
- Scholars being dropped off in the morning by a parent or caregiver - it is important that you pull up as far as possible in the drop off lane. That is not a parking lane and the adult is not permitted to leave their vehicle unattended to walk their scholar(s) into the building. There are staff members outside at arrival that will ensure scholars get to where they need to get to.
- ALL Scholars arriving via bus enter via Door 13
Dismissal:
- Scholars being picked up:
- Grades K-1 exit via Door 12
- If scholars being picked up (and not riding a bus) in grades 2-6 have a sibling(s) in Kindergarten or Grade 1, they will also exit via Door 12.
- Grades 2-6 exit via Door 1 (main entrance)
- Scholars being picked up at the end of the day must remain near the main entrance on the grassy area. Families must pick scholars up from the pick up lane - or park in the lot or on the street if they wish to exit their vehicle and meet their scholar(s). Vehicles may not be parked and left unattended in the pick up lane.
- ALL scholars riding a bus home will exit via Door 13
Additional Information:
- Please use the drop-off lanes at arrival and dismissal. We do not want scholars walking through any parking lots.
- Please do not block the bus lanes.

Every Meal Program
At EDW, we work hard to ensure students receive a healthy breakfast and lunch each day to support their developing brains and bodies. Research shows that children who eat regular, nutritious meals are more likely to attend school and be engaged in learning. We partner with Every Meal to offer a free weekend meal program to all our students. The program is:
Free for all families
No qualifications required
Students enrolled in the program will receive a 4-5 pound bag of nutritious, nonperishable food each week
Every Meal does not collect information from families; privacy is protected
Families may choose to participate in the program anytime throughout the school year
Families may choose from a variety of different weekend food bag options
To sign up, complete and return the pamphlet form sent home with your child OR complete this digital form. If you were enrolled last year, you need to enroll again this year. Questions? Email emilia.temple@isd623.org.
Information about New Bus Routing System
Roseville Area Schools has implemented a new transportation routing system to improve the efficiency of our bus schedules for picking up and dropping off students. While this system is designed to enhance our transportation services, we ask for your patience as we address and resolve any initial issues.
If you need to request a change to a bus stop or if you no longer require transportation services, please email us at transportation@isd623.org or call us at 651-635-1638. Please be prepared to provide the following information:
- Student Name
- Student ID
- Reason for the request (for example, relocation, change in transportation needs)
Please note that we are processing requests as quickly as possible; however, any changes to existing bus stops will not take effect until after the first week of school.
You will receive updates and information about any changes via email, so please ensure that your contact details are current. This includes verifying that your most recent telephone number and email address are on file to ensure you receive all necessary communications promptly.
The safety of our students is our highest priority, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this transition.

Important Changes to School Meal Procedures for Roseville Area Schools Students
Roseville Area Schools will continue to offer free meals for all students during the school day, including healthy breakfasts, lunches, and after-school "super" snacks. To ensure our meal programs remain effective and equitable, we are implementing some changes to our procedures, specifically regarding second meals and additional lunch servings.
Changes to Meal Procedures
Elementary Schools:
- Elementary students will no longer be able to purchase additional items such as entrées or sides. However, milk may still be purchased separately.
- We encourage students to make the most of our meal offerings by eating breakfast, utilizing the share cart, and enjoying the "all-you-care-to-eat" fresh fruit and vegetable options available with their lunch serving.
Secondary Schools:
- Secondary students may purchase additional entrées, sides, or milk if they have money in their meal account.
- To purchase additional items, students must check in at the designated cashier, receive a food tray, return to the serving line for the additional items, and check out at the designated register.
- Students with negative meal balances will not be permitted to purchase additional items.
We encourage all students to take advantage of the free breakfast and lunch offerings, which include unlimited fruits and vegetables and access to the share cart. Secondary students also have the opportunity to enjoy free super snacks at the end of each school day.
Thank you for your understanding as we make these adjustments to better serve our students.
