Need to Know
World Press Photo Exhibit Outing TOMORROW! Friday, September 27 from 3-6pm, Middle School students are invited to join Ms. Corbie and Ms. Schwartz on this optional outing. The group will travel using transit, leave Selwyn at 3pm, visit the exhibit in the Old Port and eat together, before returning to Selwyn House around 6pm. Interested students should complete this consent form TONIGHT and bring $10 to Ms. Corbie or Ms. Beech (for the Exhibit) tomorrow morning.
School Photos: Proof packages (including student ID cards) have arrived and were distributed to Grade 7&8 students today. Ask your son for it so it doesn’t languish in his backpack or locker for months! Student ID cards are useful for entrance to inter-school events. Photos can be ordered online at mylifetouch.ca using the access code on the proof package. If your son was absent when the photos were taken, he is registered to participate in Photo Retake Day on Thursday, November 14. If your son wishes to have his photo retaken, please inform Ms. Beech so she can ensure that he is registered.
Grade 7 Outdoor Ed Trip: Into the WILD is a two day, one night intro to survival in the outdoors. During this trip, students will find themselves in a beautiful forest away from all the comforts of the modern city. With basic tools and no electronics, they will need to rely on their instinct and knowledge to build a shelter, make food and connect with their peers. Throughout this experience, students develop confidence and autonomy and gain a deeper understanding of how to take care of themselves, their peers, and the land that hosts us for a night. A Consent Form (mandatory) needs to be completed by Tuesday, October 1 (but sooner is helpful:). Please reach out to Mr. Julian Geisterfer (outdooreducation@selwyn.ca) with any questions about the Packing List and Student Groups and Schedule.
