FALL FUNDRAISER
Our Fall Fundraiser will begin on Monday, September 16! Packets will be coming home with students on Monday. Profits from this fundraiser will go towards ongoing playground improvements as well as student activities.
TA Home Football Games (A Family Event)
As a friendly reminder, please do not drop off your MVES student at any high school events. All middle school and elementary school age students must be accompanied by a responsible adult at high school football games. While we love to have future Knights attend events, they should not be left unsupervised by a responsible adult. Thanks for your help with this!
Special Live Broadcast and Fireside Chat
Next Thursday (9/19) Mountain View will host a statewide event! A Live Broadcast & Fireside Chat with the First Lady of Virginia and author of The Anxious Generation, Dr. Jonathan Haidt, will be taking place starting at 7pm. This event offers a unique opportunity for families to connect with our division, and learn how limiting social media and cell phone use can restore childhood and play. The event is a live broadcast to participating schools across the Commonwealth followed by facilitated community conversations about the dangers of Technology.

Press the laminated cardstock square to the hot jar and press to create a seal.
Flip the hot jar and line up the edges with a cold jar and pull out the square, holding the jars together.

While you wait: What is happening now? What will happen if you flip them? Create another hypothesis!
Data: Take a picture of your experiment before you flip and after you flip and submit to your teacher on SeeSaw!
Conclusion: Were your hypothesis statements correct? Why? If you could do the experiment again, what would you like to change?

Inspire Award
MVES has an outstanding team of dedicated staff who go above and beyond to support and inspire our students every day. When filling out the nomination form, please explain why you are nominating this teacher or staff member for the Inspire Award. Please include specific details and examples of how this person has inspired you or your child and is deserving of this recognition. Walk/Bike to School
Don't forget, every Tuesday and Thursday (rain or shine) is Walk/Bike to school! Deputy Custer (Our School’s Resource Officer) will be stationed at that intersection from 7:55-8:10am to help students cross Route 33 safely. We are planning to continue this until the weather turns in mid/late October.
September Is Attendance Awareness Month
As we continue to work together toward academic excellence, I want to emphasize the importance of consistent attendance in ensuring student success.
We know that regular attendance is one of the most critical factors in achieving academic growth. Every day counts, and each day missed can have a cumulative impact on your child’s learning. This year, we are encouraging all of our students to embrace the challenge of “Strive for Less Than"5"—
to not be out of school for more than five days throughout the entire year.
September is National School Attendance Awareness Month, and I have a special challenge for students and staff who don't miss any days in September. Please watch my video for more information!
Sincerely,
Larry Shifflett, Ed.D.
Division Superintendent
