January Update
January 2025
Noticias from Mr. Macias ๐ค
Welcome back, everyone! We hope your first few weeks back have been positive and filled with renewed energy. This time has been a wonderful opportunity for students to reconnect with staff and peers, and we hope the break provided each of you with the chance to reflect on your personal "why" and the purpose we all share in the meaningful work we do together.
As we move forward into this new quarter, weโre diving right back into focused, meaningful curriculum and instruction. The upcoming quarter is both the most challenging and the most crucial, as itโs the final stretch before testing. Parents, we ask for your continued support in emphasizing the importance of daily attendance and punctuality. Every moment in class is vital as we prepare students for testing and help them finish their courses strong before the end of the marking period.
We canโt do this without your partnership! Your engagement in this process is key to student success, and together, we can ensure that every student stays on track and remains focused on their goals.
As we look ahead, our support staff is actively working alongside teachers to integrate test-taking strategies into daily lessons. Weโve seen great progress in how teachers are guiding students through self-reflection, using data to track growth, and honing strategies that will help them succeed. These practices are all part of our commitment to student learning and success.
Hereโs to a strong and impactful second semester. Letโs continue to build on the amazing work weโve done so far and finish the year even stronger!
Sincerely,
Mr. Macias
Principal TAP

ASVAB
TAP juniors and seniors have the opportunity to take the ASVAB on February 18th at 9:00am. Please sign up with Mrs. Flores.
Why take the ASVAB?
There are two important reasons for students to take the ASVAB:
1. The ASVAB helps assist high school students in career exploration! The ASVAB is designed to help students learn about themselves. It can help you identify your interests, values, talents, and abilities. The first step toward finding a career is to spend some time finding out about you! Grades and tests are only a part of the picture.
2. As an aptitude test, the ASVAB measures your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The ASVAB also provides you with career information for various civilian and military occupations and is an indicator for success in future endeavors whether you choose to go to college, vocational school, or a military careers.
Here are some practice websites from Mrs. Flores for the ASVAB.

Tip of the Month ๐ก
Slowing Down
When so many cultural trends have shaped us into creatures who move fast, can we reasonably expect ourselves to slow down? It could make a world of difference in our effectiveness as parents. Apart from giving yourself the time to put together your best response, slowing down sets an example of an invaluable skill we want our children to develop: pausing before acting, before words or actions erupt mindlessly and carelessly, inadvertently causing harm.
