2024 Tackle Rugby Tournament
The Year 5-6 and Year 7-8 Tackle rugby teams ventured off to Thames on Wednesday to take on the might of the Thames Valley at the 2024 Tackle Rugby Tournament. Sunny and warm conditions greeted the teams with both sides displaying some quality running rugby and strong defence.
The Year 7-8 team fought gallantly in a tough draw and produced a decisive win over Ngatea, who were unbeaten up till then. The Year 5-6 team displayed strong resilience and played some courageous rugby throughout the day. This year the competition was decided on which teams scored the highest number of tries rather than actual wins. Unfortunately, both teams missed out on podium spots but produced some good wins throughout the day.
I would like to acknowledge Matt Gwynne and Jono Tesselaar for their effort Coaching and Managing the Year 5/6 team and Vinnie Narayan for Managing the Year 7/8 team. A big thank you must also go to our wonderful support team on the sideline, and to all of the parents who helped out with transport. We look forward to the 2025 Tackle Rugby Tournament.
Thank you
John Byers
Term 1 2024 Attendance Data
This week we have received Our Term 1 data analysis from the Ministry of Education (MOE) and are pleased that we have achieved two out of the three MOE Attendance targets. We continue our goal of achieving all three targets before the end of 2024. It is important to mention that the MOE is now tracking lateness to school, if your child arrives after the bell they will be marked as late for school. We thank you in advance for seeing the importance of regular and on-time attendance.

We want to make sure that speeds are safe and appropriate around our schools and make our roads safer for everyone who uses them.
We have a speed management plan for the district which will be implemented from 2024. As part of this plan, we are improving road safety around our schools over time as funding allows.
We are looking at installing signs, road markings, rumble strips etc from May to June 2024. As part of the process, we will be holding a pop in session at school to answer any questions from Parents and the community.
Find out more about our Speed Management consultation, the Interim Speed Management Plan and see an interactive map of all proposed speed limit changes at mpdc.nz/schoolspeeds
Stanley Ave School Pop-in session

Thank you Rotary Te Aroha
On Thursday our Year 4 students had a visit from Brett Smyth and Graham Wallace from the Te Aroha Rotary Club. They presented each student with a stunning Usborne Illustrated English dictionary as part of a nationwide project that was first introduced in 2008..
Brett talked to students about the layout of the dictionary and then tested their skills by seeing who could find certain words the fastest.
The Year 4 students were very excited to take these home and share their new dictionaries with their families.
A big thank you to the Rotary Club for this amazing gift and to Brett & Graham for coming in to present them to our tamariki.

Purchase your Own SAS Sports Shirt!
We have gone live on DirectGroup Uniforms with our Sports Shirts that you are able to purchase. We feel moving forward this is a great option and will save a lot of time issuing and collecting sports shirts. At this time we still have our other sports shirts for anyone that is playing and has not purchased their own yet. Check them out at:
https://dgstore.co.nz/collections/stanley-avenue-school
You can purchase the sport shirts and they arrive directly to your address and they even have Afterpay so that it makes it possible to budget. We are looking forward to seeing these appearing on our sports fields.
We are hosting a community event at the Morrinsville Recreation Grounds on Saturday 25th May from 1pm. The event is a Scavenger Hunt and suitable for all ages.
Land Search and Rescue have a little dog mascot called "Seek". The idea is to find Seek in the community where he can be anywhere.
As a team at TAPSAR that's short for Te Aroha - Paeroa Search and Rescue, look forward to your participation.
There is also an internal competition between all the Land Search and Rescue groups and they can get quite competitive, and we would love to get a shot at winning it, but we need community support for that to happen. The top 3 groups that create the most awareness will win a prize which will go a long way to building our equipment. By getting as many people to click the following link will be a start. People are encouraged to share it on social media. (the video is in the link) everywhere for everyone video
