Volunteers and Attendees
Parents are encouraged to sign up for a time to volunteer. We will need committed volunteers to facilitate stations or help with the Fastest Kid Race. The station volunteers will award each student varying points on a card for completing stations. We will have individual and class awards based on points earned.
Volunteers MUST be approved as volunteers through the office. If you are planning to volunteer or to attend Field Day, please help the office staff out by clicking the link below to pre-register before May 15th. All volunteers and guests must check in at the office to get their printed out sticker before heading back to Field Day.

Graded Assignments and Homework
Parents,
We wanted to bring to your attention that your child will begin bringing home more graded assignments from their second-grade teachers. These grades will mirror more closely what third-grade grades will look like for your child next year. Please note that these graded assignments will not be recorded in your child's official gradebook like they will in third-grade. We are introducing graded assignments to give our students a glimpse into what they can expect next year. We encourage you to take some time to review these assignments with your child and celebrate their achievements and feedback from their teachers.
Additionally, in this last grading period, we encourage you to continue to support your child with completing their homework and turning it in each week. Our goal is to help them build strong work habits so that they are ready for the increase in rigor that third-grade will bring.
Thank you all for your support in helping finish out this year strong! We are so proud of this amazing group of students who are starting to look more like third graders everyday!

Dragon Diamond Program
Our DRAGON DIAMOND program was created to cultivate kindness at Johnson Elementary School. Through our DRAGON CODE and monthly lessons on essential values such as generosity, helpfulness, and respect, we are inspiring positive attitudes and behaviors in our kids. This year, we are focusing on being “difference-makers” as we encourage our kids that their acts of kindness can make a difference in the lives of their classmates, teachers, and beyond!
HOW IT WORKS
Teachers who observe students being kind may give them a Dragon Diamond to be entered in a grade level drawing at the end of each week. Winners get to select a prize to remind them of their acts of kindness. While we cannot reward every student with a physical prize, we want to encourage our kids that being kind and doing the right thing is a reward in itself. Here’s where we need you!
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Continue the kindness conversation at home! Ask your kids how they are making a difference at Johnson. Encourage them to include someone who may feel left out, brighten someone’s day with a compliment, help a friend who is hurt, or show gratitude to a grown-up. And when your child earns a Dragon Diamond, celebrate their kindness!
