Hello Levelland Lobos!
Spring Break has come and gone, but students in Mr. Scott Lawson's Advertising & Social Media Marketing Class were challenged to make an ad for Levelland ISD! These students planned out the advertisement, wrote the script, filmed the production, and edited the video. They learn so much about the digital world, technology, and many programs that offer results. We love that students did this and are proud of the work these kids do! Enjoy! https://files.gabbart.com/455/levelland_commercial_1st_draft.mp4
Have a great week and enjoy!

Spelling Bees
LISD District Bee!
Levelland ISD held their 2025 District Spelling Bee before spring break in the LMS Auditorium. LMS sixth-grader Caleb Willey won the contest for the third year in a row by spelling the word "hopscotch." The Bee went for 15 rounds! The runner-up was South fourth-grader Kaelynn Cuevas. Caleb will move on to compete at the Regional Spelling Bee later this month in Lubbock. If he wins there, he will move on to compete at Washington DC! Congratulations to these amazing spellers! We also thank our spelling chairs Morgan Combs, Amy Pebsworth, and Mixie Clowe for the extra hours you put in with your spellers. Thank you to our judges Mrs. Donna Pugh, Mrs. Stacey Waddill and Mrs. LaGayle Stephenson. And we appreciate you, LMS and Mr. Brian Luna for hosting this event!
4th-Place at Regional Bee!
LMS sixth-grader Caleb Willey participated in the Regional Spelling Bee this morning and came in Fourth Place. Caleb, you are so amazing, and we are so proud of you, your hard work, and your determination! Caleb has won the Levelland ISD District Bee three years in a row already and has participated in the Regional Bees as many times. We know that this takes hours of studying outside the classroom, so we thank your parents too! Way to go!
Robotics Are Geared Up!
Capitol and LMS Robotics students enjoyed their trial Robotics run at Lubbock on Saturday! All the kids were so excited. We send out thanks to the ISD Sponsors Reba Griggs, Kayla Kelly and Clara Sanders for their extra efforts and time outside of the classroom. Mrs. Clara Sanders says, "Her students took 2nd, 3rd & 5th place in the practice round. Thank you, Levelland ISD for the opportunity to spark the interest of engineering in boys and girls." The competition will be April 12 and we will be watching!
Connecticut PenPals Established
Mrs. Barbara Utley's 3rd grade Capitol GT students participated in a U.S. Geography Mystery Meeting through Region 17ESC. While engaged in this activity, students learned about the geography of the United States, surrounding countries, and bodies of water. This lesson also helped develop critical thinking skills, communication skills, map skills, and problem-solving skills as students worked together to ask geographical questions to another team of students in order to guess their state. Students prepared a script to teach the other team all about Texas, Levelland and Capitol Elementary. Their Mystery Meeting was with a group from New Canaan, Connecticut. They learned that Connecticut is where the Fundamental Orders were written, that it is the birthplace to Mark Twain, and that the first dinosaur tracks to be discovered in America were discovered there in 1818 and can be viewed at the Yale Peabody Museum. Mrs. Utley and these GT students are excited to continue to learn from their new penpals!
LHS Pizza Parlors
LHS Students in Mr. Russell Hill's 2nd-year Entrepreneur class have been planning their own pizza business. Mr. Hill #expectsexcellence and challenged students to create their pizza business from scratch, developing concepts for theme, menu items, target market, and brand identity. They completed the simulation this week by presenting opportunities for other entrepreneurs to open new franchise locations throughout the country. One student said, "this class is the best. I've learned so much!" Levelland ISD is so proud of that, and we are so proud that entrepreneur students leave LHS with skills they need for success after high school!
Social Media Profile
Our Young Emerging Leaders of Levelland were lucky to learn from Annette Sykora today. She visited with them about their social media profile, discussing what to have on their platforms and what to leave off. Mrs. Sykora gave great advice to take a minute to think before you post, that what you say just might effect your life! Thank you, Mrs. Sykora for taking the time for our amazing YELL kids!
You're Invited to Shipwrecked @ LHS
You are invited to the LHS One Act Play performance of Shipwrecked! Come enjoy their performance before they compete at District. The performance starts at 6 pm tonight! We hope to see you there.
LMS Art Students Recreate Northern Lights
LMS sixth-graders In Ms. Leeann Jackson's Art Class learned a little about geography and then did an amazing job capturing the beautiful Northern Lights of Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Canada, Alaska, and parts of Russia and Greenland. Their medium was oil pastels and chalk! Thank you, Ms. Jackson for giving your students the desire to be creative! https://files.gabbart.com/459/northernlights.mp4

LMS celebrated National Pi Day today! Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π. Pi Day is observed on March 14 since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant figures of π.
