Message from Principal Eliason
Many thanks to those of you who came out to our Student Led Conference night! It was such a joy to see so many families on campus. We are so proud of our students' efforts and accomplishments and we grateful to have the opportunity for our students to share those with you. If you would like to further discuss your child's academic progress, please reach out to your child's teacher to schedule a conference. Quarter 3 interim reports will come home this week.
Thank you for your continued partnership,
Ms. Eliason

Leader in Me
Each month at SLE we focus on one of the 7 Habits of being an effective leader. During the months of February we will focus on Habit 5: See First to Understand Then to Be Understood. Take a moment to talk with your child about this habit and where they can apply it in their everyday lives at home and school.

PBIS Quarter 2 Celebration
Once again, students had the opportunity to celebrate their outstanding behavior in our quarterly PBIS celebration! This fun, winter themed celebration allowed students to join together to play winter bingo, win prizes, and purchase extra treats with their “leader dollars” which are earned through excellent academics as well as behavior. Students had a blast and were able to reflect on all the positive consequences of their good choices as well. We’re so proud of the character of our student body!
Just Book It!
Our partners in literacy, Pi Beta Phi, hosted a wonderful Just Book It! even for Shadowlawn students in January. Each student was able to select two brand new books to take home and keep as their very own. Students also received a Shadowlawn bag, Seahawk temporary tatoo, and snacks and lemonade!
Thank you Pi Beta Phi for not only bringing your support for literacy into our school, but also into our students' homes!
PreKindergarten
New Year, new things! Our classroom is transforming thanks to DonorsChoose. We have received new colorful tables, dollhouse furniture and dolls, and alphabet activities. The class is enjoying all of these new things!
Kindergarten
Kindergarten enjoyed the Just Book It event and are enjoying reading their new books. Thank you Pi Phi for helping support the love of reading!!
The Little Red Hen On Stage was a big hit! The students had a great time learning about plays and acting! Could have some future actors here at SLE!
100th day of school, Oh my! We have learned so much since August! Kindergarten celebrated the day making a sight word paperchain with 100 loops, we counted 100 Fruit Loops to make necklaces, we counted by tens to hundred to make a hat and we enjoyed a variety of items to make a 100 day snack! What a fun day!
First Grade
FIrst graders use their letter tile boards to spell trick words and new words with blends!
Second Grade
Second grade had a fun time preparing for their unit test in math. Students worked together to play “Stinky Feet” and share their math reasoning.
Third Grade
On January 30th the Third Graders had their Cultures Concert. Students dressed up in clothing from their culture and sang songs from 7 different countries including the USA, Mexico, Honduras, Haiti, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, and Cuba. It was a spectacular show!
