NRAC Family Newsletter
"Empowering Students to Design Their Own Future"
October 10, 2024 - Principal's Message
NRAC Families,
It's that spooky time of year again and our students are excited for some Halloween fun at the end of this month. As you read this month's newsletter, please pay special attention to our Halloween costume guidelines. In addition to the Halloween costume guidelines, you'll find information about our upcoming book fair, Sandy Hook Promise Start with Hello week reflections, and information about school safety. Thank you for supporting the students and staff at NRAC.
Have a great month!
Shane
Start With Hello Week Reflections
During Start With Hello week, we had lots of student greeters! NRHS marching band, cheerleaders, and football players welcomed NRAC students, and some of our 3rd & 4th graders greeted the high schoolers as they entered the building. This was a wonderful way to build our North Ridgeville community and make it feel more like “HOME.”
PBIS Recognition - NRAC wins BRONZE!!!
Each year, schools across the state apply through the state board of education to be recognized for their efforts to implement a PBIS system that supports the students in their building. NRAC worked hard last year to refine Tier 1 supports to ensure all of our students received consistent messages around Ranger STRONG behaviors. We are proud to announce that NRAC was recognized as a Bronze Level school for having a strong Tier 1 PBIS program in place in the building.
If you have questions about PBIS, please reach out to your child's teacher(s) or contact me for more information.
Parent Teacher Conferences
As our fall parent teacher conferences are scheduled for November 7th and November 14th, a link for sign up through PTC Fast will be sent home to families on October 23 and will be active until 24 hrs. before conferences begin. You will need an email address to create an account in order to sign up for fall conferences. Office staff cannot schedule conferences for you.
For more information about parent teacher conferences, please reach out to our office staff
Report Cards
Report cards will be released on November 1st in PowerSchool. Be sure to log in to review your child's performance and growth. Remember, you can check your child's progress in PowerSchool at any time throughout the year to stay updated on assignments, assessments, and teacher comments. If you haven't yet set up your parent account or need assistance navigating the platform, please contact our front office for support.

Scholastic Book Fair
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to NRAC 5-8! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: October 16-23
Location: NRAC 5-8 Media Center
There’s even more info on our school’s Book Fair homepage:
https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/NRAC58
While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash.
We hope you take advantage of this awesome opportunity to select some amazing books that your kids will enjoy.
Stop It App
The STOPit App is a perfect way for students to report bullying or anonymously report information to administrators that could be harmful to students and staff members in our school. While reporting this information to an administrator or parent is the best option, using the STOPit app allows students to report information to us from anywhere and anytime. Please click HERE for more information.
Safety and Security
October is School Safety Month in Ohio. On October 30th, NRAC will dedicate the day to school safety. Students will participate in a fire drill, tornado drill and a lockdown drill on the same day and have great follow up conversations with their teachers about the importance of these drills.
Additionally, at NRAC we consider threats of any kind serious and work hard to investigate situations to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Below is a video from the Ohio School Safety Center that outlines the growing concern of threats and how threats are managed by schools and local authorities. Please watch the short video as it outlines the work schools complete when managing these types of situations and outlines the possible consequences if your child makes a threat in school.
