Early College High School News
Mission Statement
Our ECHS Owls are taught to have H.O.P.E.--faith in the premise that they can create OPPORTUNITY and a better future through EFFORT, HARD WORK, and PERSONAL COURAGE. This idea of H.O.P.E. is woven into the fabric of our ECHS family.
Greetings ECHS Community!
It’s definitely hoped that everyone fared well during the recent days of frigid weather.
SHOUT OUT to our ECHS students on completing the First Week of their ACC Spring 2025 semester! This is the FIRST ACC class for our Freshmen, our Sophomores are taking TWO classes, our Juniors are taking THREE classes and our Seniors have FOUR college courses! The Early College High School design of taking high school and college courses simultaneously; is a huge undertaking for our students. That said, we are truly proud that they continue to prove that they are definitely up for the challenge!
We are appreciative to our students, teachers, staff and families for a positive abbreviated week!
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
GO OWLS!
Dr. Wilson

DISTRICT UPDATE:
Dr. Azaiez, Superintendent of Schools, January 24 community message
Jan 24, 2025
Dear Round Rock ISD Community,
Thank you for your flexibility in adjusting to Tuesday’s inclement weather day. The decision to close schools is never taken lightly, as we understand it impacts families who must find alternative arrangements, teachers who must adapt lesson plans, and students who benefit from the structure and support that our schools provide.
Ultimately, our top priority is ensuring students attend school safely. With our district spanning 110 square miles, road conditions can vary greatly from one area to another. Many thanks to our maintenance and transportation teams, police department and everyone who stayed on call, making sure our schools and facilities were ready to welcome students back! We appreciate all your hard work.
On Saturday, I joined community members, staff, and students in Downtown Round Rock for a march and ceremony honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event featured a touching tribute from Round Rock Opportunity Center science teacher Tina Steiner and a performance by choir students from C.D. Fulkes Middle School under the leadership of their teacher, Heather Rosen. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is seeing the dedication and passion our students and teachers bring to serving our community.
Our students and staff have incredible opportunities thanks to the support of our Board of Trustees. They help shape our district’s mission, set goals, and approve funding essential for recruiting and retaining talented staff and offering a variety of unique programs that benefit our students.
Our Trustees—President Tiffanie N. Harrison, Vice President Alicia Markum, Secretary Amber Landrum, and Trustees Chuy Zárate, Melissa Ross, Amy Weir, and Dr. Michael Wei—are passionate advocates for our students, staff, and community. These dedicated volunteers are elected by our community and typically serve four-year terms. They spend countless hours each month reviewing reports, attending events, and addressing concerns to help make our schools the best they can be.
January is School Board Recognition Month, and it’s the perfect time to show our appreciation for their hard work and commitment!
Let’s continue working together to support our students, celebrate our community, and embrace the opportunities ahead. For those celebrating the Lunar New Year, Happy Lunar New Year! Lunar New Year begins on Wednesday, Jan. 29, ushering in the Year of the Snake. Lunar New Year celebrations last for 16 days marking the beginning of Spring and the start of the new lunar cycle. Thank you for all you do to make our district a great place to learn and grow.
Respectfully,
Dr. Hafedh “AZ” Azaiez
Proud Superintendent of Schools
