BECS Family Update

Our students are learning, growing, and building meaningful relationships with their peers and teachers. We are committed to continuing this journey, helping each child develop their skills and providing the support they need to thrive. Thank you for your partnership as we nurture their growth together!

We are thrilled to share the results of our recent Spirit Week Fundraiser! The Burbank community raised $2,474 to support pediatric cancer research and care, in honor of our student, Cal.

Cal's courage and resilience inspire us all, and it is in his spirit that we have united to help others facing similar challenges. We are deeply grateful for the incredible work the Callahan Murphy Hare Foundation does, and we hope this donation will positively impact the lives of children and families affected by cancer.

We have created a sign-up sheet to provide food for our teachers on conference night 10/9/24. This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to support the dedicated staff during this busy time of year.

Additionally, we invite you to our next PTO meeting on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Burbank. This morning meeting is part of our effort to accommodate as many participants as possible by alternating between evening and morning sessions.

Conference Update: Parent-Teacher Conferences are just around the corner! Thank you to everyone who has registered for their preferred time. Conferences can be held in person or virtually, depending on your choice.

• Wednesday, October 9th: 4:00 - 7:30 PM
• Friday, October 11th: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Childcare will be available from 5:30 - 7:30 PM on October 9th and from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM on October 11th.

We look forward to discussing your child's progress and goals for the year. If you have any questions or need to adjust your schedule, please let us know!

1. Illness and Health Protocols

With cold and flu season approaching, it’s essential to know when to keep your child home from school. We encourage you to review our building-specific health protocols, which provide guidance on how to manage illness in our community. This practice will help us reduce the spread of illness in our classrooms.

Additionally, our staff will be emphasizing proper hygiene, including regular handwashing, to keep our students healthy. We encourage you to reinforce these habits at home as well.

2. Outdoor Safety and Weather-Appropriate Attire

Outdoor play is a crucial part of our daily routine, even as the weather gets cooler. We believe that fresh air and physical activity are vital for our children’s well-being. Therefore, please ensure your child comes to school dressed in appropriate layers for outdoor play, including jackets and hats.

3. Mental Health and Emotional Wellness

As the school year progresses, it’s important to pay attention to your child's mental health and emotional well-being. We are incorporating activities in the classroom that promote social-emotional learning, helping children build resilience and manage their feelings. Encourage open conversations with your child about their emotions and experiences at school. If you have concerns or need resources, please reach out to our staff for support.
