C.I.T.Y. News

We hope you all had a very happy holiday season! With the start of the new year, C.I.T.Y. of Support is thinking ahead to our programming in 2021. While we'll miss having our annual in-person " We Love Our C.I.T.Y." Valentine's event, we couldn't be more excited to announce a brand-new initiative designed specifically for our C.I.T.Y.

We are creating our very own Awareness/Celebration Month in February appropriately called "We Love Our C.I.T.Y." Throughout the year, some families participate in various "awareness months" that recognize a particular diagnosis and the community who support them. We are very aware not all of our families have this opportunity due to having a less-common or unknown diagnosis. "We Love Our C.I.T.Y." will acknowledge and celebrate ALL children receiving therapy services and their families, emphasizing our common connections and supportive community within the general public.

In order for this initiative to be successful, we are depending on participation from different offices, clinics, and schools in the area. In the coming days, an important Google Form will be posted, and professionals will be encouraged to sign-up for opportunities on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents, please help us spread the word to your therapy centers, as we hope everyone will participate!

We will be sharing more specific information about this initiative shortly via email, social media posts, and on our website. We hope you will see "We Love Our C.I.T.Y." as an opportunity to increase our community's visibility, awareness, understanding, and compassion at a local level, while celebrating ALL children in therapy and their families.

If your children enjoyed assembling our holiday/all occasion D.I.Y. Card Kits, we are now offering Valentine Card Kits & Valentine Variety Packs available through our website. The Variety Packs are a new item that provides 6 blank cards & envelopes, a large variety of art supplies, and plenty of sample cards for inspiration that will encourage your child to create original, personalized Valentines with complete creative freedom. Definitely check them out!

Meet Evelyn! Her family received a sensory-friendly family photo session this past month with Something Blue Photography, courtesy of C.I.T.Y. of Support. Her proud mom says:

"Evie is one sweet and strong toddler! Despite her developmental challenges, she has been working successfully with PT to improve her balance, coordination, and strength. Just in time for our big move to a new house in the suburbs, Evie mastered walking foot over foot up the stairs! This was a huge step forward, and we are so proud of her accomplishment."

We love compiling advice from our C.I.T.Y. members into quarterly Collaborative Blog Posts. It's a great way to share resources and highlight everyone's expertise. Currently, we are collecting submissions for our February Newsletter with the practical topic of making "Accommodations for Learning at Home." We want to know what helpful tools/resources have made learning from home more bearable? What has helped during the school day or during therapy sessions? We'd love to hear from parents, professionals, and community members about any tips, resources, websites, blogs, or links you recommend for accommodating learning at home. Easily submit your ideas through our Google Form.

Parents: Sign your child up to participate in this fun, FREE program, and he/she will receive a handmade birthday card in the mail from another child who receives therapy services. What a fun way to make early social connections and celebrate everyone. Our Google Form is quick, easy, and secure, so take a minute, and register your child today!

Clinics/Schools: Reserve a month for your patients/students to participate in this program. We have a Sign-Up Genius where you can find all the details and select your month!
