Madrona Monthly Newsletter
April 1st, 2024
Dear Madrona Community,
As we step into the vibrant month of April, I find myself reflecting on the journey we've embarked on together this academic year. It's remarkable how far we've come and the achievements we've celebrated as a united community. With the spirit of renewal that April brings, I want to take this opportunity to share some updates and thoughts with you all.
First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our students, parents, teachers, and community volunteers for their unwavering dedication and resilience. Your commitment to our students academic excellence, personal growth, and community engagement is truly commendable. Specifically, your support during math tutoring sessions, Island Wood Camp, fieldtrips, and our academic family nights has formed the cornerstone of our school's continued success.
This April, we have several exciting events and initiatives lined up that promise to enrich our educational experience and foster a sense of belonging within our school community:
1. Spirit Week: During the week of April 1st, we will celebrate the week by showing our school spirit. Please do not go out and buy anything, please encourage your student to create their costume from clothing items they have at home. See spirt day themes below.
2. Mathopolis Family Night/ Health Fair: This event will occur on Thursday, April 25th, 5:30 - 7:00 pm. We will celebrate Madrona mathematicians, play math games, and build a beautiful math community together! Our Health Fair will provide resources for families and fun for kids! Please "add" us to your calendar and come for "sum" serious quantities of fun!
3. Spring Break: No school during the week of April 8th - 12th.
4. Attendance Campaign: This month, we are launching an attendance campaign to encourage our scholars to come to school every day. We only have a few months left in the school year, and we want to make sure our students receive the instruction they need to finish strong and prepare them well for the next year. Please support your student by making sure they come to school on time.
As we embrace the spirit of April, let us renew our commitment to learning, growth, and community. Together, we can continue to create a nurturing environment where every individual thrives and shines.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. I look forward to celebrating the success and milestones of April with all of you. Please read the rest of our April newsletter to learn more about what is happening in our great school.
In partnership,
Principal Carter
Student Arrival Information
We need your help to reduce our schoolwide tardies.
Our campus opens daily at 7:35 am. During this time, students are able to enter the building from the back gate, eat breakfast, walk the playground, and stand in line to wait for their teacher. At 7:50, teachers will greet their students and walk students into the building. School officially starts at 7:55 am. Our playground gates will close at this time. Students who arrive to school after this time will need to check into the office before going to class. On an average, there are 20 to 30 students who arrive to school late each day. Some student are arriving 20 to 30 minutes late. This means they are missing 100 - 150 minutes of instruction a week. Please help us reduce this number by making sure your student arrives to school on time every day.
Thank you for your support!

Student Cell Phone Reminders
This is a friendly reminder about student cell phone use. Please remind your student to power off and store away their cellphone in their backpacks during the school day. If they need to contact you, they are more than welcome to come to the office to call you. If you would like to contact them, please call the office directly and we will gladly get a message to your student. Also, please remind your student that staff will not be charging their phones for them during the school day. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
