The Eagle's Nest
Week of March 4, 2024
Happy Sunday Eagle Families!
We have many fun things happening at Clyde Erwin this week. On Monday, we will kick off our One School One Book project along with Read Across America. As a school students will have a chance to win trivia prizes by answering daily questions and enjoy hearing guest readers at night. Check out DOJO for a link to nightly guest readers. We encourage you to send pictures of you and your family reading Charlotte's Web. Stayed tuned for contest that will also be held throughout the month. We encourage students to participate. Also, this week we will celebrate National School Social Worker Week to recognize Ms. Karen Dew. Thank you for making such a huge impact on our students, families, and school.
The lottery opened on February 26 and will close on March 15. If you did not return your contract to Mrs. Berry by February 9 and wish to return to Clyde Erwin for the 24-25 school year, you will need to reapply through the lottery. Also, please spread the word we will be having a Magnet School Information Night on Tuesday, March 5 from 5:00-7:00pm. This will give families the opportunity to come see what Clyde Erwin has to offer through our Magnet program. School tours will also be offered at this time. Clyde Erwin is the only elementary school in our district to offer dance as a specials class. We are looking forward to adding many new opportunities for our students next year.
On Wednesday of this week select students will be participating in the Spanish Spelling Bee at 1pm. Parents are welcome to attend if they have a student participating. Friday, we will be having a Wax Museum. Our fifth grade students will be presenting research on Famous Black Americans and Women in History. Parents are welcome to attend between 12:30-2:00pm.
Spring and Class picture day will be on March 5. Information has been sent home with students. Students will be able to dress to impress or out of school uniform for these pictures.
The March PBIS celebration will be a St. Patrick's Day BINGO. We are in need of prizes. Parents if you are willing to donate prizes, please have them to the school office by March 8th.
Parents make sure that you take time to check your child's bookbag each morning before they leave for school. Students should NOT be bringing toys, Pokemon Cards, trading cards, or any other type of game like items to school. If items are found, they will be collected. We will not be responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items collected. Also, please revisit our parent and student handbook. This is just a reminder that students should not come to school in boots. Students should be dressed and groomed for the business of the day. Students should not come to school with long nails.
