Dear Thacher Families:
I want to take a moment to thank the entire TES/ELC community for the incredibly generous support in helping our PTO raise over $29,000 through our Boosterthon Fun Run to provide enrichment programs for our students. This is especially meaningful when considering our current economic state where every penny counts. Thank you for investing in our students!
We also want to thank the Attleboro Fire Dept. who were a part of our kindergateners' last day. They came for Touch-a-Truck, which the students LOVED! Their Field Day was a huge success and they went off for the summer full of smiles. Click here to view the photo album (courtesy of Nurse Kilfoyle)

Last Week in Music
Next week is our last week of kindergarten here at TES. How the time flies! As a result, we have been in hard-core review mode this week, making sure that our students can identify basic classroom instruments, echo tonal patterns, read basic rhythm patterns, and keep steady beats while moving in place and around the room. We have reviewed some of our favorite songs, chants, and games from this school year, so we are gearing up to be ready-to-go for the start of next year. Second grade has been completing some poetry-based projects with our instructional coach, Mrs. Marcotte, and we have used the opportunity to reinforce steady beat and rhythm reading. Second-graders are also prepping for the start of third grade by building their xylophone skills and creating their own group compositions!
Upper grades have been hard at work learning the various instruments of the orchestra, while singing greeting songs from around the world (our current song is from Zimbabwe) and continuing to strengthen our recorder skills. The fourth grade successfully participated in a fantastic field trip to Veterans Memorial Auditorium where they got to sing, dance, and play with the Rhode Island Philharmonic. They showed their Panda Pride and received several compliments about their behavior from the staff. I could not be more proud!!
Our insights classrooms have continued to build skills in playing, singing, saying, and moving. Fingerplays give us a great opportunity to work on our coordinated fine motor skills, while larger dances help us with our gross motor skills and teamwork. Students have also loved our puppet time, where we get to practice our rhythm patterns through our very own puppets. TES is full of rockstar students!
Musically yours,
Mr. Chippo
Tri-County Visits 4th Grade
Thank you to the Tri-County High School Engineering students and their teachers for an engaging visit. Mr. Blonder's and Miss Marcotte's fourth grade classes were inspired by the NASA HUNCH project presentations from the HS Juniors. Thacher students learned about the engineering design steps that were taken to complete a Project Based challenge. The visit also included hands-on engineering activities for the fourth graders with guidance and encouragement from the High School mentors
This Week in Health
Within the last two weeks students have been learning and practicing some of our P.E field day games. (Reminder Field Day on Friday June 9th). Students are getting the opportunity to explore and enjoy different ways to play multiple events. Some school favorites at the moment seem to be GA GA ball, snake canyon, and 9 square in the air. We are hoping with the review and practice with each event it will create a smooth transition to each station where students can begin playing right away.
This week has also kicked off our first annual Thacher Hall of Fame Olympics. There are five events students participate in and can compete to try and achieve a personal best or just do the event for fun. Some of the events include a 40-yard dash, a quarter mile run, long jump, baseball throw, and a sit up event. These events will be held in the beginning and end of each year where students can track their scores. Our K-2 students are learning and practicing these events and our 3rd-4th grade students are beginning to compete and track thier scores.
Mr. Ryan Henry, Health Teacher
Feel free to contact me with any questions! Hope to see you at Field Day!
Mr. Danny Rendell
