Principal's Message

Happy Friday Cougar Families!


The energy of finals week is always a little tense with anticipation and we saw increased traffic in the library and Beyond the Bell Tutoring. Please congratulate all of our Cougars for a successful completion of the first quarter of the 2024-25 school year. They worked hard and they deserve our heartfelt praise. Grades close today and will be shared with families through email by the end of the day on Wednesday.


There is no school on Monday, October 14 and quarter 2 begins on Tuesday, October 15. Let’s help get them started on the right foot!

Walter Munk Day

Students from Steele Canyon High School Volunteered for Walter Munk Day at Kellogg Park at La Jolla Shores with Ms. Barnett’s 3D Design class on October 5th. The event promotes education, research and conservation of our oceans. Students hosted interactive art activities as well as an exhibition of our sea animal artwork and helped build Tule Boats with the Kumeyaay tribal members and paddled them out into the ocean for a race!

Media Arts CTE Field Trip

The Career Technical Education Media Arts pathway took a field trip to the San Diego Film Summit on 10/2. There, students heard from a panel of Film Festival curators and then had a Q & A with a professional cinematographer based in San Diego. It was an incredible experience for our students to engage with professional film makers.

Teen Center @ McGrath YMCA

McGrath YMCA has “drop-in” teen center activities for the month of October. This is free to all teens, regardless of membership statues. They will provide food and have a variety of activities each night. Check it out!

College Visit & College Workshops

Future Fest

Future Fest Event is a great way to explore possible Career choices after High School. It will be on October 19 at Cuyamaca College from 9 am - 12 pm!

Volunteer Opportunity

Foothills Faith Academy has a fundraiser on October 17 and needs volunteers from 4-7pm. Different jobs include setting up, cooking , serving, and cleaning up. Please email tracy5098@aol.com to sign up!

Drive Safe - the Cougar Way

Friendly reminder to drive cautiously as you enter and exit the campus. Campus Supervisors are here to keep the traffic moving - please follow all traffic directions from security personnel. Reminder that we do not provide access for cars at the back of the school during the school day.
