Angela May, co-author of The Islanders: Shipwrecked, will be on hand tomorrow to present to our 3rd through 5th grade students and to observe parts of the Sandcastle Day competition. She will also sign copies of her book. If your child would like her signature, he/she may bring the book to school tomorrow and meet her!
If you don't have a copy of her book, but would like to purchase one, Village Bookseller has kindly agreed to deliver any book purchased today to the school by noon tomorrow. Angela May will then sign all copies! Click the link below to purchase today.

Conference Day: Friday, September 20th
The district conference day is Friday, September 20th. There will be no school for students this day. Conferences will run from 7 am - 3 pm. Your teacher will send you a Sign Up Genius link to schedule a 15 minute session. During the conference, your child's teacher will discuss specific data, including iReady results, areas of strength, and opportunities for growth. This is a wonderful time to meet one-on-one with your child's teacher. We hope to see you at school on the 20th! If you have any questions regarding conferences, please reach out to your child's teacher.
iReady At Home
Just a reminder.....while students do have access to iReady through Clever at home, we prefer that students complete their minutes at school. iReady has created a custom learning path for each child based on his/her diagnostic test and individual lesson performance, and sometimes family members want to help students when they are at home. This will ultimately impact the personalized learning path for the child. We also like to monitor iReady usage data, ensuring that students don't spend too much time on a device. Thanks for your assistance with this!
Gifted and Talented Arts Nominations
The Gifted & Talented Artistic program is now open for nominations for the 2024-2025 school year. Students in grades 3 through 8 may be nominated by parents or guardians to be evaluated in the areas of dance, drama, music, and visual art. Nominations will be accepted through November 1, 2024. For more information about the Artistically Gifted & Talented identification process and to access the nomination form, please visit the Visual & Performing Arts webpage at ccsdschools.com/vpa.
