World Down Syndrome Day is March 21st
The day has been celebrated since 2012 with the recommendation of the United Nations General Assembly.
The date for WDSD was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome that caused Down syndrome.
The Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas is promoting #Inclusion and #Awareness on World Down Syndrome Day!!!
LCHS PTA Scholarships
LCHS PTSA will have several $500 scholarships available for seniors this spring.
The student must be a member of LCHS PTSA for the 2021-2022 school year in order to be eligible to apply for a scholarship.
Be sure to join by Friday, March 25th, so Mrs. Griffin can send you a scholarship application.
Students can join LCHS PTSA at www.joinPTA.org. Membership applications are also available in the main office. Mrs. Griffin can also email the LCHS PTSA Membership form if you email her at her address below.
Scholarship applications along with two letters of recommendations will be due to Mrs. Griffin's email by Friday, April 1st.

This form must be completed and returned to Mrs. Turner no later than April 1, 2022 in order to participate in the graduation ceremony.
Please download a copy of the Graduation Contract to turn in. A signed copy of this document should be returned to Mrs. Turner in the Main Office or e-mailed to gkturner@garlandisd.net.

Preparing for the Ceremony
Ordering Cap and Gown
View this informational video for information about what is available and how to order.
At MINIMUM, students need the graduation cap and gown set and these should be purchased NOW at www.jostens.com. Order before January 28, 2022 to take advantage of group discount pricing.
Collegiate students will order their cap and gown set through the Jostens’ website along with their Class of 2022 classmates. Mrs. Dry will provide a list of eligible collegiate grads to Jostens, and Jostens will deliver the black cap and gown set to those students. If, by chance, the wrong color is shipped it will be exchanged.
Collegiate students will receive the LCHS Class of 2022 white stole with their order. The school owns the collegiate stole that will also be worn for the ceremonies. Students will receive their collegiate loaner stole at some date prior to graduation, and will return the collegiate stole at the LCHS ceremony.

High schoolers who would like to experience hands-on learning at the Gilbreath-Reed Career and Technical Center (GRCTC) can now complete the GRCTC Interest Form in Skyward.

All students who wish to ride a GISD bus in the 2022-23 school year must register online starting March 1. For questions, contact Transportation at 972-494-8530.

GISD Livestock Show & Sale
Join us for our 78th Annual GISD Livestock Show & Sale.
This yearly free event features impressive cattle, swine and more that students raise from fledglings to full-grown.
Students will receive feedback from judges in the ring, compete for show placements, and during the sale have an opportunity to earn scholarship awards.

Become a PARENT PROMISE SCHOLAR!!!
The application window is now open for parents interested in becoming a Parent Promise Scholar!
Parent Promise is a scholarship program available to the parents of students that attend one of our GISD Dallas County Promise eligible high schools: Garland HS, South Garland HS, Lakeview Centennial HS, North Garland HS, and Naaman Forest.
If the family has an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of less than $55,000, the parent is provided with a pathway to earn a certificate or Associate Degree in an in-demand field of study at no cost at participating university partners.
To get started on becoming a Parent Promise Scholar, parents must apply at
dallascollege.edu/parentpromise
by March 1, 2022.

If you use the form, print out a copy, fill it out, and place it with cash or a check made out to LCHS PTSA in an envelope in the PTSA box on the lower right below the teacher boxes.

Congratulations to Senior Miss Carly Gates!
Spectrum News 1 recently highlighted Lakeview Centennial High School's Carly Gates as she was selected as one of only eight girls from Dallas heading to Steph Curry’s Underrated Championship Tour.
The Underrated Championship Tour was created by NBA superstar Stephen Curry to provide a platform for overlooked players to be seen by colleges and universities.

Safety and Security
- ID Badges should worn and visible at all times. All students will receive a school ID Badge when school pictures are taken, until then students may wear last year's.
- Visitors should report to the Secure Vestibule in the front of the school for screening.
- It is also expected that each of us report anything that may makes our school unsafe, either by contacting the SRO Officers at LC, the counselors, the teachers, the administrators or any staff member immediately when a concern arises. If a person wishes to remain anonymous, concerns may be reported by using this Anonymous Alert Form.
- We expect all Patriots at LC to be safe and enjoy everything about LCHS this year. Please know all of Garland ISD, LC Administration, Faculty and Staff work hard to ensure everyone in the LCHS Patriot Community stays safe each and every day.
