November Family Newsletter
Dear W.E.S. Families,
The first nine weeks of school have come to an end, and we are thrilled to share the progress our W.E.S. students have made. It is hard to believe that November is here. We are so thankful for our W.E.S. students and families and are looking forward to the month of November.
W.E.S. students in grades K-4 will receive the first nine-week report cards on Friday, November 1st. Please remember that our teachers are here to support you. If you have any questions or need to set up a conference to discuss your child's progress for the first nine-week grading period, don't hesitate to reach out.
Students will continue to set goals for the next nine weeks. Please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher with any questions regarding the grade-level curriculum or standards. In grades 1-4, students will continue to work on their Accelerated Reader (A.R.) and Reflex Math goals, which are designed to improve their reading comprehension and math fluency. All students in grades K-4 will be working on high-frequency words for each grade level, found on the W.E.S. website and below in grade level resources.
Please continue to talk with your child regarding their academic, behavior, and attendance goals.
We look forward to our continued partnership with you over the next nine weeks. Together, we will support our students in meeting their grade-level goals by the end of the year.

Celebrating Kindness in November
November is a time to express gratitude and spread kindness. World Kindness Day/ Mr. Rogers "Cardigan Day" is celebrated on November 13th! This day is meant to inspire children and adults to engage in acts of compassion.
We will be celebrating WES Lil Rider's Kindness Day, promoting kindness is often modeled after the teachings of Mister Rogers and Daniel Tiger. This special day promotes empathy, friendship, and understanding among young students. Activities may include sharing uplifting messages, helping classmates, and working on group projects that showcase the importance of kindness in everyday life. These efforts aim to nurture compassionate citizens who value community and making a positive difference.
On Wednesday, November 13th we are encouraging our students and staff to wear a sweater or cardigan in honor of Mister Rogers and to help continue his legacy of kindness.

News from the School Nurse
As of May 1, 2024, the nurse will not keep stock drugs according to State Policy. If you want your child to take any over the counter medications while at school, you must provide them.
I will need a medication form completed by your doctor, and you must provide the medications. When you send them to school, they must be in the box and labeled with your child's name, grade, and teacher. I will stock them here for the entire school year. If they need them while they are here at school, I will call you for your permission to administer them.
If your child is taking daily medications, the form from your doctor must be completed before the medications are started in school. The bottles must have a script label. No medications will be accepted in a plastic bag. If on an inhaler, the inhaler must be in the script box. The inhaler will then be stored in the teacher's desk.
Thank you,
Nurse Decaria
