Nationwide Text Alert on October 4th
On October 4th, there will be a nationwide emergency alert test. This test is scheduled to begin at approximately 11:20 a.m. PT on Wednesday, October 4. This alert will go to all cell phones and make a unique noise and vibration, whether they are on silent or not. For more information, please click on the link below.
Changes in Google Settings
Due to recent changes that Google made to their settings related to students who are under 18, students will no longer be able to sign in to apps that aren't on our Approved Apps list with the Google Single Sign On option. This includes signing in and using social media accounts created with their Google account, such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
Any student who has created a personal account in any application using their PUSD email should change their email address in that account to a personal email address immediately to ensure they are able to continue to use those applications. These changes will take effect by October 15, 2023.
Student Chromebooks
If a device is locked, a ticket must be submitted to unlock the device.

October is Digital Citizenship Month
Use Hapara to help students develop Digital Citizenship skills
Digital citizenship is key to building relationships of trust with learners.
- As educators, we must teach and support our learners how to navigate their way through the digital age so they are safe, responsible and respectful online.
- Educators should be open and transparent about what they see using the Hāpara Suite.
To set learners up for success, take some time at the beginning of the year to show them what you can access in the Hāpara Suite and how you’ll use it to keep them safe and focused during online lessons. Talk through what it means to show integrity when engaged in an online task, what the potential distractions are and how learners can deal with them proactively.
To learn more, watch the video linked below.
