Happy Fall Mustangs!
You know what comes every year, brings the Miles community together, and gets our students moving? The Annual Walk-a-thon!! Yes, it is back and going down at the end of October. Friends, this PTO sponsored fundraiser is the biggest of the school year and sets our students and staff up for wonderful experiences both in and outside the classroom. Check out the flyer and pledge sheet so you can start to gather your supporters. Oh, and the date of the event is October 30th. How about wearing your costume or funnest outfit to run the track??? Hmmmm.
Finally, Miles will once again recognize Ruby Bridges Day. This year, Ruby Bridges Day is on November 14th. This is a whole school event where we enter the building as one unit and also spend time learning about the history of Ruby Bridges and how her efforts as a young girl shaped the educational environment into a more inclusive space for all students. Gather up your most purple-y outfit and get ready to say, "Thank you Ruby Bridges!"
Read through the newsletter for more announcements about upcoming events. Enjoy Fall Break. We will see you back on Monday, October 14th!
Enjoy,
Principal Andrea Steele

Congratulations Adelle McNiece!
Miles ELC's middle school science teacher, Dr. Adelle McNiece, received her certification as a TUSD Honors Trained Teacher this month. This certification included training in instructional practices such as equitable practices, depth and complexity, student portfolios, rubrics, Socratic Seminar, project and problem-based learning, inquiry-based instruction, and curriculum modifications. Adelle has been enjoying putting these skills into practice during Honors Science; she also commonly extends them into other classes because they make for such a dynamic and fun learning experience for all of our students!
Congratulations Laura Namerow!
Miles ELC's Art teacher, Laura Namerow, has earned Middle Division Art Educator of the Year from the Arizona Art Education Association!
