Introduction by Ms B Ruth, Assistant Headteacher
Welcome to the first newsletter for April 2025! It is lovely to see the later, lighter nights and to feel the warmth of this week’s mini-heatwave. May I wish those of you who celebrated, ‘Eid Mubarak’ and hope that you have had a lovely time with family, friends and the wider ummah. The end of this term has a lot of exciting events and opportunities for students to take part in from our rewards event of a roller disco to the cadets doing away days. To keep up to date with opportunities and inter-house competitions, please check out our social media channels.
Next week, our Year 11 students will have their very last Parents Evening with us. This evening will allow students and staff to meet to discuss the gaps in knowledge and recommend the best support them before their real exams. We appreciate it may be a stressful time and would like to support students in the best way possible. We want the very best for them as we know you will. Please do attend as well as continuing to support them at home with their revision in the last stretch before the real exams. We would like to take this opportunity to wish them luck for their future final exams.
Over the course of this half term and for longer we have been preparing for our school musical.
Excitingly, we have a full-dress rehearsal for the up-coming school production of Matilda. Our Performing Arts department are pulling out all the stops to ensure the students are ready to sing their hearts out. Watch out for ticket sales to help support us in our second school musical production. We wish them all the very best - but no broken legs please!
Finally, may we wish all our Sikh families happy Vaisakhi for the upcoming celebrations and our Christian families a meaningful holy week and happy Easter.
* Please note that school will finish at the usual time of 3PM next Friday, 11 April.
6th Form outing to Royal Shakespeare Theatre
A group of our sixth formers took a day trip to Stratford-Upon-Avon with Mrs Fox from the English Department to watch the Royal Shakespeare Theatre's production of xxx . It was part of their coursework at Colton Hills and watching the production come to life from the textbook was a real treat. Esha, our Deputy Head Student in 6th Form said: "The Hamlet production was a vital part in solidifying my knowledge for my upcoming examinations. It was an incredible and unique experience unlike any other before. Not only was exciting but important for any literature student to have!"
Duke of Edinburgh Training Exercise
The DofE candidates participated in their first first training exercise at Colton Hills last weekend. All 10 pupils are working towards their Bronze Award and took part in various activities, including pitching tents, learning to use a stove, map reading by coordinates, and first aid.
The session was closely supervised by Mrs. Tolliday (DofE Manager) and Mr. Warden (Assistant Manager). The students performed exceptionally well throughout the training and are now prepared for their expedition in July. Well done to everyone involved!

Love Your Community
Love Your Community – Representatives required!
Wolverhampton Council is hosting their next round of Love Your Community sessions, and they need to improve attendance from residents. These sessions will be used to ascertain the key priorities in each ward area and feedback directly impacts the policing priorities also, so residents have the opportunity to shape an action plan for each ward.
There will be the opportunity to speak with Police, ASB and wider council services as well as Councillors - and they will be looking at what community action we can identify and support also.
The sessions are all listed here - booking is optional and all sessions are on a drop in basis so not commitment to stay for the full session.
The first meeting coming up is the 31 March and they run sporadically until mid-May. There are 16 sessions in all. Please look on the link to find the most appropriate sessions. Thank you.
Loads of FREE activities for children in the Easter holidays. Booking required. Some activities include meals and open to all students in Wolverhampton.
